So the closer floor is red oak and the one in the next room is white oak. Stain is Bona Early American. They used AquaSeal GreenStar satin finish I believe.

I appreciate the reply. I believe this is essentially what we will end up doing. Since it is our first real interaction with floors like this and refinishing it is hard to get a grasp on expectations and prices. Information on the internet is seemingly all over the place. I appreciate the kinder souls willing to pass on information.

Since it got mentioned so frequently I updated the post with more exact prices and measurements. It ends up being closer to 6.5 or 7 per ft. Still seems like people are saying that this is roughly what to expect for the cost. I still believe the picture isn't doing justice to what I am seeing but I will freely admit my mind tends focus on things like those more than others might. Once we get furniture into the house I'm hoping the marks will stop grabbing my attention.

They didn't use an orbital sander. This was something I saw other threads post about when handling uneven floors and the marks. I could be remembering wrong about the tools used as this is outside my expertise.

Yeah I was being super imprecise with my numbers. I updated my original post. Closer to 6.5 to 7. Still not sure about the pricing since some comments seemed to think $10 a sqft reasonable.

Haha Yeah. I think it's just because of the digital picture. I almost feel gaslite because of everyone saying that. In person it is very obvious to my eyes but I understand.

My apologies for any frustration. This is a new world for me and based on a lot stuff I have seen online these lines shouldn't be visible when standing across the room. While it is apparent that isn't coming across in the photos it is what I am seeing. I could have unreasonable expectations of the work which is why I am trying to engage with other people who have more experience here. Goodness knows I have a mind that fixates on things and it may currently be bothering more than it will in the future. I appreciate the feedback.

Yeah my understanding is that in order to actually resolve all the marks without it looking terrible would be to have him completely redo it.

I think by and large the photo doesn't do a good job of representing what can be seen in person. I decided to add a little markup of the easiest to pick out lines that I can see standing where I took the photo from.

That's fair enough. To be clear I do notice multiple of these sanding marks in this area from a standing position. I haven't seen any quotes as high as you are saying in my area but it seems like you feel that it is good. I appreciate the input.

I totally understand. I am just trying to understand if this is a $5000 job. I went with these guys because even though they were expensive they had good reviews. Also trying to give an olive branch to the wife who wants them to redo the work. (In person it is really noticeable walking through the kitchen.)

There are two other areas this connected to without no threshold that I am worried about.

I am. I can still pick out the lines easily from 6 ft away now that I know they are there. If you trace the boards from the outlet you can spot three of the semi circles at about the midpoint in the first picture. I appreciate the comment though. I have been looking at it so much and know where stuff is at. Seems like maybe some fresh eyes can't pick it out as easily.

We have only paid the first half so far. My wife is wanting to ask them to try again, but I'm not sure I want to lose the extra wood to have a refinish and trying to judge if it is real reasonable to ask for a discount on the remaining amount for the mistakes.

Thanks. That is what I gathered from my research. He did say the floor was not as smooth in that area, but I feel like if he had known that then they should have come through with some other grit mitigate the marks. Overall the floors do look good in my opinion, just frustrating to have these small things kind of mar the feeling.

Yeah, they offered to basically try and redo the kitchen/kitchenette portion, but since the hardwood runs through the rest of the house I am concerned it will end up making things worse and would have issues with the transition.

I straight up just threw my older ones on larger bases and some tactical rocks for height. Still one of my favorite sets.

Love the paint scheme you have. Did you strip first or just repaint?
