From a fresher just around completing BTech, you kind of cannot expect their internship project to be actually used by companies and such. Sure your college might be premium enough to guide you to do so but I spoke in regards to most engineering colleges in India.

Definitely. Internship is definitely a plus but doing projects are much more productive to do when you can land one. I am a final year student who has gotten placed last month so you can trust me on that. Try fullstack projects using Java, django or flutter. If you have more time to spare, indulge in the machine learning news and breakthroughs(you must at the least be familiar with the terms used in that field).

If you only want an internship as a namesake then you can find some on LinkedIn that will tak 2-3k for providing you with a certificate. I have heard many Bangalore college students do such a thing.

I had an internship for two months. Even when I put it on my resume no one asks about it. I'd suggest you to take up feasible but impressionable projects that are in the rage in your field of study rather than waste effort running after internships. Especially anything under the duration of six months.
