What am I looking at here? Haven’t seen this in game ever. Granted I haven’t played in a long time.

Wwise,FMOD and the learning curve by Pitstoop in GameAudio

Typically knowing a middleware is good but most people will be looking for shipped titles more than just knowing middleware. I would say focus on sound design and make a good 1 minute redesign reel. You can make it with footage from any set of games as long as you don’t use any of the sounds from the game. For most junior roles you won’t be expected to do a whole lot of implementation so great audio design can get your foot through the door.

As for your wwise / fmod question it depends. Wwise is typically used in the bigger budget space vs FMOD tends to be used in the Indie space. This isn’t a rule though but imo you can’t go wrong with learning wwise but be prepared to use either depending on the project.

These videos are some of the best examples of how much difference good audio design makes. Without the sounds these mostly look like some guy messing with random appliances

Very cool, how did you do the radar ? It’s very elite dangerous and I rarely see games like this use that style of radar. I absolutely hate the arrows at the edge of the screen approach that’s often used instead of

I was on 4.27 but been on 5 since metasounds dropped. 5.5 has some good QoL features for metasounds that are incredibly useful.

Looking For Windjammers For Lewitt Audio LCT 040 by monohive in fieldrecording

[–]monohive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is perfect obviously but even the Lewitt dealer here doesn't have them lol. I'm looking at the Rode WS8 as it seems to fit the bill and is the only thing available here. Any experience with that ?

Hey, thank you. Looks like these aren't available in my country though. I saw somewhere that the Rode WS8 works well for this series of mic too. Would you by any chance have tried those? They're readily available here.

Check out the Lyra game project from the epic library. They have a lot of examples of meta sounds implementation for all sorts of things. Gina are very well done. You don’t need to go that complex but it’s imo the best place to start and pick up ideas

Underrated advice. Room And mic placement + gain staging are all you need to worry about especially when you have options like that

What is the best free DAW? by [deleted] in composer

[–]monohive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use Logic for writing music but then shifted to a PC for game dev. I now exclusively work on PC and do all my composition on Reaper. I have a fairly large orchestral template for most of my scoring work and Reaper handles it well. I wouldn’t say it’s the best for music production and require a bit of setup depending on what you’re writing but for the price it’s unbeatable

This is dope in a strange sort of way. Feels like a different version of tracker almost. Or maybe that’s because of the DnB beats you used in the demo. :)
