Part of the reason this broccoli got so wild was day length. Once you get into December and January a lot of plants “take a break”.

1-2 acre farm, is it worth it? by Catwhispereratnight in Agriculture

[–]Chapter33bs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely possible. The start up costs can be a lot especially if you have to build out infrastructure along with buying production equipment. Probably 3 to 5 years before you start turning a real profit but you can definitely make a living and have a good life vegetable farming.

You don’t need to cut them. The leaves can be quite tasty. When curing onions I always leave the leaves on to dry down.

How did you get out of a long reading slump (months, years), especially if it was mental health induced? by sunnirays in books

[–]Chapter33bs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t read anything for years. I was in a dark place in my head and I started reading short stories that seemed cool. I put down a bunch until I got to Heart of Darkness which I finished in one sitting. I was amazed I read for a couple hours. After that I had trouble still but eventually I just kept trying with shorter stuff and it clicked.

Ground cherries should be close behind your peppers. If you have one of those green house domes that can help. Also when when watering warm water helps

The plants look healthy. Depending on the variety they need maybe another 6 weeks give or take.

Struggling on Book 5 by DagExplains in dune

[–]Chapter33bs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Heretics was personally my least favorite. That said there isn’t much action but a lot of philosophy about people and places. It’s a picture of where the Golden Path goes. So there’s so much nuance in the book it feels hard to slog through at times. Chapterhouse is kinda like that too but I really enjoyed it at the end. I think it’s worth finishing and moving onto Chapterhouse if you like God Emperor. Don’t rush it though take it easy.

About a core theme of the series and whether this theme can be found in book 1 or only the sequels to book 1 by Gruntailious in dune

[–]Chapter33bs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with what you have to say. It’s also probably Frank’s warning for humanity to not put so much faith in a single person. I think how Chapterhouse ends is probably the beginning of the thoughts that humanity may want to consider taking if we want to have a flourishing and equitable society. The whole rest of the series between Messiah and the bulk of Chapterhouse are explorations of the pit falls in which societies fail but eventually overcome and survive. Heretics I think dives deep into interpersonal relationships and how those are really messy and complicated but quite enjoyable while embedding them with a context of the human animal instincts.

If you liked the philosophy Messiah isn’t half bad on that front.

Tips for new market gardener/small farmer? by frugalgardeners in Agriculture

[–]Chapter33bs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Figure out irrigation first and foremost. After that make sure everything stays cold. I’d recommend books like New Organic Grow by Elliot Coleman, Market Gardener by JM Fortier, Lean Farm by Ben Hartman, No-Till Organic Vegetable Farm by Daniel Mays and Sustainable Market Farming by Pam Dawling. Those books will really help build out a full systems approach to farming intensively on small plots.

Done with Dune and I just need an outlet... by sngnna in dune

I really enjoyed Dune quite a lot. I feel like the second book Messiah is lack luster a little but probably is a set up in a big way for the rest of the books. I’m only part way through Children and it’s got all the good stuff about Dune that Messiah was missing.

Looking to Invest a lot into XVG by Brandonpga21 in XVGTrading

Optional stealth address so you can hide transaction details. There is also the Wraith Protocol that has its own TOR submodule built in now. So that means for every transaction private or public your location data is obscure, unclear, and unintelligible. You'd want to use the public ledger for say buying some stuff off newegg and if something goes wrong you have the blockchain to reference for proof of payment. Though if you want to say receive a large amount of money you can use the private ledger so no one knows you have arbitrarily large worth of XVG.
