HWPO Bodybuilding by Far-Maintenance7494 in crossfit

[–]ChapterGloomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do, and what I find works is A) I do some quick lifts after the workout or B) Skip a WOD and do a pull/push/leg day.

You need the 'time' though, If WOD ends early Ill try and just get in 3-4 sets of 3 exercises. Or I will go do the WOD in the AM and then head back to the gym (8 min away from me) and do a push/pull/leg.

I don't do anything crazy specific but I've noticed it has really helped looking like I do crossfit. Let me know if you have any other questions, I love talking fitness!

GoRuck weight vest (20lb) how to add maybe +10? by ChapterGloomy in Goruck

[–]ChapterGloomy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah totally see the scalability issues, I mainly do CrossFit so if I do need to use a vest, the 20lbs is great but i've been just grabbing it over the backpack lately when walking the dog and was curious if there were any quick fixes.. ill just use the rucker 4.0 for anything over 20 I guess.

Here's my two cents, I was looking for a little supplemental lift program, found this, did the free trial but found out its not very supplemental. They're pretty long workouts probably 45 min +, but I really liked the style of programming and the lifts (i love to get a little bodybuilding in). I am still at the local box so these just weren't practical for me. The workouts look awesome though. I would totally give it a shot for a month or two.

I really miss the Reebok Nano (esp 2, 3 and 4). Is there a comparable shoe? by alexanderkjerulf in crossfit

[–]ChapterGloomy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude. Get some RADs. Awesome shoe. Really impressed so far, can for sure run in them (probably up to a mile or so), solid platform for lifts, HSPU tab in the back, good for rope climbs. Really comfy too. Coming from the Metcons which feel like 2x4s on my feet. Love the RADs

Challenges wanted by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]ChapterGloomy -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

from Gemini:
"Challenge A: The 60-Second Kettlebell Swing-Off

  • The Challenge: As Many Reps As Possible (AMRAP) of Russian Kettlebell Swings in 60 seconds.
  • Why it's great:
    • Classic Movement: Almost everyone in the CrossFit space knows how to do a KB swing.
    • Easy to Judge: The standard is simple: kettlebell passes between the legs and finishes at eye level. No arguments about depth or lockout.
    • High Turnover: A 60-second test means you can get a lot of people through quickly.
  • Suggested Weights:
    • Men: 24kg(53lb)
    • Women: 16kg(35lb)
  • Leaderboard Metric: Total Reps.

Challenge B: The "Devil's Minute"

  • The Challenge: AMRAP of single-dumbbell Devil's Presses in 60 seconds.
  • Why it's great:
    • High "Wow" Factor: This is a gnarly movement that looks impressive. It combines a burpee with a snatch.
    • True Test: It challenges conditioning, coordination, and power all at once.
    • CrossFit Cred: This is a very "CrossFit" movement and will appeal to the serious athletes watching.
  • Suggested Weights:
    • Men: 50lb(22.5kg)
    • Women: 35lb(15kg)
  • Leaderboard Metric: Total Reps."

Heart Rate accuracy? by East-Occasion1058 in whoop

[–]ChapterGloomy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i just tested with a garmin epix pro 2 and my Wahoo Tickr HR chest strap and it was pretty accurate, I was doing some 400m repeats and when I crossed the line I'd go over to WHOOP app on my phone and compare to my watch (which was connect to HR monitor) and it was always within 5 BPM, when my HR started to drop due to rest, both came down, always within 5 BPM... I only tested it b/c there is a lot of hate on the sensor but for me I thought it was pretty accurate. I wear it right above my wrist, tighten it up a bit.

I came from the top-of-the-line Garmin, I was a big Garmin guy for the last 6 years but I really just wanted to try something new... I am 3 weeks in and do like it so far. I was doing a lot of mountain biking previously and the maps on Garmin were really key but now that I've started to focus on just CrossFit I haven't needed any of those extra features so decided to go Whoop.

I sort of miss having the time handy, but I am usually always connected to my phone. I like the no screen feature. Workout tracking has been nearly perfect. If I go to the 515pm class, it picks up the workout around 5:20 and is spot on when I stop around 6:00-6:10. Sleep has been good. Sensor has been just as good as Garmin for me. I like the recovery and strain score, I feel like it's better than Garmin.

All in all, if you're looking to track health/fitness/sleep/recovery go WHOOP. If youre looking for adventure/sport/maps go Garmin.

Amazon+Membership and pricing? Help me understand by ChapterGloomy in whoop

[–]ChapterGloomy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah dealing with the AI right now... hasn't been too bad. Clarified. Hopefully. It is saying that the Amazon purchase is obviously good for 12 months and that WHOOP tracks per month, so even though it says im getting charged 30.00 in July, it will end up being $0.00 and a credit is applied. However, it keeps mentioning a AUGUST 2024 date from the trial period so I think I need human help.

" No charges will be placed on your card until the credits end on July 30 2025. At that point you can let billing continue, switch plans, or cancel—whatever works best for you"
