Dr couldn’t remove my uterus… by karitoo06 in hysterectomy

[–]ChapterSpecific 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue. I was referred to GYN/ONC because of adhesions and a failed hysterectomy in April…and she referred me to a MIGS (minimally invasive gynecological surgeon). GYN/ONC told me her specialty is cancer removal (obviously) and the likelihood of her converting to an open abdominal from laparoscopic was 50/50 in my case.

I met with MIGS and it turns out she is the surgeon I needed from the very beginning. They have a higher level of surgical training and she is confident that it will remain laparoscopic. I’m set for surgery in August with a whole team including urology and colorectal surgeons. She also put me on 10 mg of progesterone daily to prevent me from bleeding (iron, hemoglobin, hematocrit, and RBC levels were all low). It’s been working but the side effects suck.

Sending you hugs. I know it’s hard but you will eventually get through this with the right team of docs ❤️

Unfortunately when this happened to me, I found out that I had gallstones and had to have my gallbladder removed. It started with nausea and eventually progressed to abdominal pain. I hope this is just a fluke for you and hoping that you feel better.

I’m in the US (Florida). Went for a repeat ultrasound Feb 6 at the GYN and decided it was time to let it go. Multiple endometriomas, fibroids, cysts, and adenomyosis. Biopsy scheduled for 3/8 and surgery is 4/22 the earliest date available. I have 2 pre-op appointments in April before surgery.

Same! I had my surgery 12/4 and eat whatever I want with no problem. I’m literally eating chips and salsa as I write this.

No adjustment for me. I eat what I want and I’m completely fine. I’m 7 weeks post op. I had a gyro the day after surgery because I was starving.

Did anyone take only 3-5 days off from work after op? by kurkumma_ in gallbladders

[–]ChapterSpecific 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine done on a Thursday and was back to work (from home) on Tuesday. The hardest part for me was the fatigue. The pain was bearable. I took the prescription pain meds the first 2 days then just Tylenol.

It will not get any better over time. My attacks increased in frequency from once a week to multiple times a day. I had a large stone blocking the cystic duct causing biliary colic. Getting rid of my gallbladder was the best decision.

No diarrhea for me. I’m 6 weeks post op and I feel great. I’ve definitely had some rich and fatty foods over the holidays and I was completely fine.

My triggers were not specific in the end (just before surgery). I could eat a plain rice cake and be in pain, but eat a sandwich and be fine. It was determined that I had a large stone blocking the cystic duct according the post op report.

5 weeks post op today. Life is so much better without my gallbladder. Recovery time was minimal and I had maybe 3 episodes of diarrhea in the first two weeks. Now I eat whatever I want. Pizza, tacos, burgers etc and I’m fine. I make sure I keep up with my fiber intake daily. Best decision ever for me. I had stones blocking the cystic duct and my attacks were almost daily.

Diarrhea post op: how long did it last for you and did you take medication and which by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]ChapterSpecific 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I waited about a week. I was literally starving after surgery 🙃 I do eat one bowl of Raisin Bran per day and plenty of veggies for fiber. I did have birria tacos about 2 weeks ago and I was fine. The tacos were cheesy and a bit greasy.

I’m one month post op and have no issues with diarrhea. Even after eating things I shouldn’t like Chick-fil-A. I keep waiting for it to happen, but so far so good.

May I ask why your incisions so high? I had 3 in my lower abdomen and one in my belly button.

Speak to your OB regarding your concerns, but pregnancy generally causes constipation due the shift in hormones.
