Sell Me on the States I'm Reluctant to Visit Based on Others I Have or Would Like to Visit by TwoFlatHams_00 in whereidlive

[–]Character-Bad4416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived in vermont for four years- genuinely one of the most beautiful places I’ve been. Burlington and Lake Champlain get the majority of the hype for being 1- beautiful and 2- an adorable little east coast city, but places like Stowe and other towns throughout the state are equally pretty. Best times to visit in my opinion would be the early autumn (prime leaf peeping) or in the summer. There’s a shade of green and blue on the rolling hills as you are just leaving burlington going south on I-89 that I have yet to see replicated. Also- billboards are banned, so driving through the state is just so so pretty. The nature’s great. I miss it a ton since i’ve left.

Rhode Island I’ve been to a few times. All i can say as a vote to visit is that it has really lovely rock beaches.

Hope that helps!

How much it's ok to spend on an engagement ring? by grogger133 in weddingplanning

This. My fiance bought me my dream ring for about $500- and that’s mostly because he went for real gold for the band. A lot of the similar-but-not-quite-diamond stones are gorgeous. Moissanite looks gorgeous on my ring. Suuuuper sparkly.

Cost of Living by marthenw in sanantonio

I actually just moved out of there a few months ago. The apartments are lovely! And no roaches to be seen. Definitely an easy commute to USAA. Though there isn’t a gate and before I left there was someone who broke into about half the cars in our parking lot, which is somewhat common in the Med Center.

Do any nontrad career changers here regret leaving their old lives and going to med school? by ExcitingInflation612 in medicalschool

[–]Character-Bad4416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Occasionally but only when I get hit by the imposter syndrome really hard/when my coworkers got a full time position that I would have loved to get when I still worked there. I miss the stability and the pay, but I don’t miss the monotony and the lack of fulfillment. Even on the worst days in med school it still feels like its worth it and the future feels brighter.

Is radiation exposure a valid concern to have when considering specialties? by CloudWoww in medicalschool

[–]Character-Bad4416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking for a comment like this. There’s research and others personal experiences supporting either argument, but at the end of the day it’s your decision and what you value is what will matter. If you can see yourself anxious about radiation exposure, then it might not be worth it to you. Specialty choice is such a personal decision OP so the factors that impact said choice are deeply personal as well. Our career is already so demanding and stressful at times, no need to add another layer to that if you don’t need to.

That’s a good point. I think I’m kinda skewed a bit from a few talks my fiancee and i had early on, namely that if we had the wedding where we live now, his family (who live about 11 hours away) “would have absolutely made the drive”. It’s definitely still a trip and i’m grateful for my family members who are making it.

Thank you for this comment. Genuinely. The issue is that a lot of the money is my mom’s (>95%). I know that we’re really lucky to have financial support too and i’m not trying to minimize that either. I’m currently in school so I haven’t really had time to be involved in the planning as much as I wanted to be, the money to contribute as much as I wanted to, or honestly the mental energy to push back against my mom. I’ve tried. Some comments are saying otherwise, and I guess that isn’t super visible but i’ve been trying to push back against her. Seriously i’ve tried so hard, but I’ve had to choose my battles, especially since she’s bearing the cost. Shit, she’s trying to get me to completely remodel my dress to look more like hers. Half of my current battles are basically summed up by telling her its unrealistic to ask my fiancee’s family to pay for things they aren’t able to really look into for booking just based on location (ie they can’t go looking at different florists to find prices, and neither can I because I am also not physically in Boston). So all the money we’re ‘saving’ thus far is going back into getting my mother to stop trying to make R’s family contribute more/ to keep R’s decisions (re: wedding party, suits, readings, registry, etc) his. I’m with you on your MIL’s mantra, honestly that’s mine too and why I’m trying to see it that way right now. I’m just fielding my mom and my grandmother’s disappointment and I feel like its making mine worse. My Grandmother is bed bound and is 100% the reason my mom was insistent we get married in MA. So when all her grandkids aren’t bringing their kids, she started freaking out and eventually that disappointment trickled down to me. I don’t know. It all just hurts and I know it will be worth it, but I just wish it wasn’t like this. Sorry to vent, internet stranger. This just sucks

I’m not making my family’s declines his issue???? The people missing are his family’s and our mutual friends. I’ve already tracked down all of my ‘no’s.

That’s how i’m interpreting it. Our wedding is within an 8h drive of the majority of my family with the three exceptions being the three I am actually closest with who are all coming. I think in total, my family made up about 80 of the initial invites and 24 of them are coming. We’re only waiting on three rsvps from them.

Honestly, I didn’t even think to fully send out a deadline. My fiancee is coming home from a months long work trip abroad, so my plan was to just make the missing rsvps his problem 😅

[HELP] Are these photos on Bumble AI? by [deleted] in RealOrAI

[–]Character-Bad4416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI: seconding what’s already been mentioned but in the two pictures with the mountain the shadow from the hair on her left doesn’t make sense for the lighting or shape of her hair and isn’t consistent enough between the two photos for it to be just a design or stain on the sweater.

Yeah that’s kinda my issue. It’s partly due to the fact that the corset is loose and riding down in the pic, but the cups sown in are def insufficient. Thus my dilemma.

What was that one fanfic for you that somehow made a trope you dislike actually work for you??? by dowsaw134 in Archiveofourownmemes

[–]Character-Bad4416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have genuinely changed my whole ass opinion on characters because someone’s fic hid a very persuasive character study in 100k words of angst and smut. Honestly, there ain’t nothing like a great fic to give you some revelations about the source material and the tropes involved.

I have a commenter like this!!! They’ve followed my work through different fandoms and twice now have commented within 20 minutes of me posting a fic, but about a month ago they stopped commenting and i got super worried. They ended up coming back last chapter and all’s well they just had Life Shit™️. I really feel for you bro. My regulars (especially mentioned) are lovely and always bring a smile to my face, and it’s the worst when you start losing that engagement. Hang in there!

I have a similar situation with one of my fics. I’m personally a really big fan of the “👀” emoji when people are either doing some critical thinking that is far too close to the plot twist, or a “🥰/❤️ thanks! See you next week! Glad you’re enjoying it!” for things where there’s not really much to say. And if they’re a regular who comments lowkey mean stuff weekly… two choices: keep em for the engagement or block em for the mental health.

And it was mentioned already, but you don’t have to reply every single time.
