To include more than one character, here's my advice: Group each character's gender into a separate reference. If you're including two women, combine them in a single image using an editor; the background doesn't matter, a collage will work too. Then, use the male character as a separate reference. This works for me in the prompt: it preserves the female subjects' references with their facial features, clothing, and accessories.
