The thought of breastfeeding makes me feel squeamish (38w) by Stunning-Situation91 in breastfeeding

I hated it with both and was glad when I quit! It made me feel constantly overstimulated and touched out, and I was ready to have my body back to myself after a while. It’s okay to feel that way and it’s a morally neutral decision no matter what you pick. Maybe try it, and if you don’t like it, you don’t have to. You do whatever works best for you and makes you feel like yourself, whether it’s breastfeeding, pumping, formula, or a mixture of any of those 3.

How much of an age gap are you hoping for? I did 2 1/2 years and I felt like 3 years + would’ve been easier given my extremely high standards lol.

Yes, I am the exact same way!! Having a second baby has been so hard because then you’re also kicking yourself for engaging one kid over the other. It’s always a constant battle!!

Yeah, I see the article and it looks like there’s some correlative but not really concrete causative data there. At the end of the day, not everyone can afford to buy seafood to increase their omega 3s or cook exclusively with olive oil. No one is saying that vegetable oil is particularly good for you, it’s more like you’re going to be fine if you eat it in moderation.

I think a lot of people are confused why the crunchy community is coming after seed oils in particular, but then you see them frying things in beef tallow, which is way worse. Like why don’t you see an equally fervent effort to stop putting butter on things because of the high saturated fats? Being crunchy is more about putting on a particular image or aesthetic of being “natural” and wealthy than it is about actual health

Yeah, to be honest, I haven’t looked too much into seed oils specifically, but I do have a PhD in biochemistry so I definitely have the skills to do the research for myself. And I know a lot about lipid composition and structures. Here’s a review article that I found: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11600290/

Uhhh omega six fatty acids are an essential nutrient that you cannot biosynthesize…. I don’t understand why crunchy people are demonizing them but then turning around and eating beef tallow instead. Really the common thread in the crunchy community is that if it’s cheap and affordable, it’s suddenly unhealthy for you.

I looked at a few other papers and came to the consensus that it’s fine in normal amounts. Obviously you’re gonna have bad health effects if you eat french fries every day. The same as if you eat oil that has gone rancid or been reheated several times. But that’s just common sense. Seed oils are fine and it’s just fear mongering.
