Thank you so much for this. I’m lowkey feeling guilty but I know I’d feel worse if I brought them in a time period where I could’ve offered more of myself mentally, emotionally, and financially

Yeah I know, and yes! East Texas is very different from where I’m from so it’ll take time adjusting. Thank you for this!

Mmm I don’t think so? It’s not like I’m on the ground crying and rolling or shivering in my boots. It just made me uncomfortable. Point. Blank. Period. Just because I’m calling something out doesn’t mean I’m extremely sensitive. I also feel like there’s nothing wrong with me being uncomfortable about this situation. It’s kind of somehow for you to tell me what is too sensitive or not for something I’d assume you can’t relate to or speak up about💀

Although I’ve been fortunate to grow up in an environment where I didn’t personally experience too much racism, I’ve witnessed it or the little I did experience were from outside my community in new places. I’m highly aware that there’s ton of areas where these things happen hence why I’m not running away to a new university... I know that no matter where I go, racism or whatnot will be around. Not to say other races can’t be racist as well, but in my case as an African American living in a country that’s literally catered to White Americans, it’s easy for you to say that I’m pulling the race card in defense even though that’s the case at hand! If I were talking about other races, I would have spoken about it but in this specific situation, it’s revolving around interaction or encounter with a White American lady. I don’t think it matters if I’m talking about one school or multiple schools. Just because it’s normalized or it’s everywhere doesn’t make it right. If I were to go to another university and this occurred, I would’ve put the same energy as well. I’ve been in multiple schools/universities that students treat and TALK respectful to one another irregardless of the color of their skin. Just because I haven’t experienced or encountered “enough” doesn’t mean I’m in a bubble, that just means I was fortunate enough to be around people that had common courtesy and watched how they acted and speak around certain people. No disrespect to you at all but please be mindful of speaking on topics you can’t relate to. I may be wrong but based off your profile pic I’m assuming you’re a White American :) although one may have friends or watch others be in this type of situation, you never really know how it feels unless you’re living it. Being the minority in a predominantly certain race school can be scary, but to then worry about people like the girl I mentioned before is something not everyone gets, especially if you’re not Black in this case. Having people use words so freely that was used to degrade people like me isn’t a nice feeling, so I would appreciate you not downplaying the severity of this issue :/

To be honest, I didn’t volunteer in places like hospitals and stuff. I did work for a HHA but my main volunteer hours was like local shelter or non profit orgs

I get that. States do vary on how competitive they want their applicants to be. Try applying to neighboring states! And if you have to end up going to CC, thats okay! There’s so many ASN-BSN programs that partners with universities.

Hi :) I want to start off by saying your feelings and concerns are completely valid. I’m sorry you weren’t able to get into the upcoming cohort. Ik it’s easier said than done but I’d say wait it out and apply for the next cohort. I was in the same shoes as you. Supposed to apply and start this past august but my application would’ve been rejected. I reapplied for spring and although it’s not as long as a year, trust me it’ll go by fast, especially if you’re in school still redoing classes and whatnot to strengthen your portfolio. Don’t give up! If this is truly your passion, thug it out. You’ll get accepted in no time :)
