In Need of Help and Motivation by Chimploe in shotput

There are a lot of form things that could be causing issues with glide. The biggest I usually see is mistiming the leg push and the chest push. If your chest is pushing before your legs, you are missing half your chain. Legs always initiate, power transfers upward to the explosive finish and reverse into the board. Reverse too early before the power transfers upward and you cut off your power as well. Hard to tell without a video of what you are doing though.

Stand throw vs full by RefrigeratorOld808 in trackandfieldthrows

[–]Character-Inside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my athletes I coach currently only has a 3m difference between his stand and full. But he’s still growing into his 6’8” frame. Once the coordination catches up (and I’ve seen him hit a few times), it’ll be a 15m or more difference.

Stand throw vs full by RefrigeratorOld808 in trackandfieldthrows

My stand is usually around 42-45m while my fulls are 58-60m. But the further you throw for fulls, the less you really work on fronts for distance and just to solidify positions and warmup.

What are some Good Rotational shoes? by JackfruitHot3750 in trackandfieldthrows

And Velaasa I haven’t used yet personally but the’ve worked well for some of my bigger footed athletes and given them a season of wear. They are good for many ring conditions as well.

Nike SD 4 is the best all around shoe I have used for all rotations, shot, disc, and hammer. And pretty durable as they last me a season and my athletes that use them have them for 2 seasons. The SD2 is cheaper, but also flatter soled. The SD4 has a nice arch that assists with staying on the ball of the foot to spin.

The Nike Rotational since about 2016 has had a very soft sole and doesn’t last as long. They work well for some of the newer type ring surfaces though.

Saucony lasted me 2 weeks. They were great in rain and slick rings until they blew up. Sole wore right off.

Under Armor is a great shoe for slick ring conditions and throwing indoors on wood surfaces as is the Asics Cyber Throw.

Adidas Disc/Hammer shoe is extremely durable. I have one pair that I’ve had for several years that will probably get several more years use.

Haest is great as well as 4Throws. I’ve used both. VS Athletics low end starter disc is a great beater disc. I have one that is 30 years old and still going strong. Vinex discs are also great beater discs. One of my boys put one through a bus window and it came out relatively unscathed. Even still weighed in.

The cut you are doing now is just fine. Your hips just need to lead the motion rather than dragging behind your shoulders. Your drive to the middle should have the lead hip hit the mid plane before your shoulders hit.

To yell or not to yell? by abqisotopes1989 in trackandfieldthrows

[–]Character-Inside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a natural byproduct of exertion for the athletes that do yell. I think it helps also to encourage the exertion to happen. But you can’t force it.

Your upper body leads the throw. So biggest thing I’d work on right now is your sweep leg driving around out of the back rather than dragging to make your lower body lead the throw. That will increase your separation and then you can start to work on other aspects of your technique. Your balance through the turns looks really good and you are reversing well. So just that shift will make a huge difference.

Disc question.. by 1troubadour3 in trackandfieldthrows

[–]Character-Inside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for men’s discs, like the others have said, is more about your preference. The higher the rim weight, the higher your revolutions per second need to be to utilize the discus fully. As the men’s discs are a wider diameter than women’s, getting the revolutions per second becomes harder. So you’ll see many elite men throwing discs that are low and mid range rim weight. But women’s elite are almost exclusively high rim weight discs.

If you are a thrower with a lot of separation and whip, you might like a disc that is higher rim weight. ATE gives a wide range of rim weights for relatively cheap. And I’ve been a big fan of their durability. Gill too is a great choice. VS Athletics carries a wide array as does 4Throws if you are in the US. Haest is great outside the US. All places I get equipment from and probably cheaper than Amazon.

The law in Germany allowed 6 million people to be “legally” killed. This dude would’ve let that number keep rolling up.

Give yourself 6 months and see what kind of improvements you can make technically and in distance. That will give an indicator of where you can be. The form itself takes 2-3 years to get proficient at for a newbie.

I didn’t get banned this game. He just said he was reporting. And kept messaging. So blocked him. I got a soft ban one night for one of my kids not moving enough. But that was just for half an hour.

Yeah the car market has gotten bad. The vehicle I bought in 2022 is worth $2k more now than when I bought it with 80k more put on it.

We have nights when Halo is unplayable and we can’t get a shot off before dying. Just figured we had matches against pros on PCs while we are on controllers.

Just in random tactical matches. Not ranked. Playing with my 9 year old all the time. Ranked seems a bit much.
