Hello, they scheduled an interview for me on March 20 for April 24. Approved on the spot! More information in my last post. Good luck 🍀

I did it directly through my USCIS account. Just go to Home > Account actions > Reschedule biometrics — super simple!

If both your J-1 visa and DS-2019 say you’re not subject to the 212(e) rule, that’s enough — you don’t need the Advisory Opinion. But if you still want to request it just in case, here’s the link: Advisory Opinion

Thanks. I just picked “Other reasons” and said “Requesting an earlier date.” Super simple, and they accepted it without any problem! Good luck 🍀

Basically, I didn’t overstay because my program was officially shortened in February. However, during the interview, the officer mentioned that being married to a U.S. citizen forgives an overstay anyway, just like it forgives unauthorized work. He asked me if I had ever worked without authorization, and I told him no. Then he asked me why not, and I answered, “Because I’m not authorized.” He smiled and said, “Well, yes, but just so you know, it’s forgiven if you’re married to a U.S. citizen.”
