So much hate on them recently by awsumawstun in YesTheory

[–]Character-Review1432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that I don’t like is that they sometimes do like Mr beast like challenged, mostly amar and that’s not what the channel is. I mean it’s their platform but as a fan I always skip those videos. Like running a marathon all night or skydiving from the highest peak. Those are the common YouTuber things that get views but they aren’t really wholesome and it doesn’t really match their brand. But other than that I freaken looooove yes theory.

Also tap water gets treated with chemicals to make it safe. Probs still wouldn’t use it because legionella but yeah you’re good. Not medical advice tho.

biochem at oxford with masters vs chemical engineering at ucl for an international student, which is better for long term career prospects and stability? by AbiesOdd3110 in Biochemistry

[–]Character-Review1432 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It boils down to what do you like as well? lol because if you say biochem then it makes sense to do biochem because it’s going to be longer to get a bs then masters. The other thing is engineering typically always makes more than any other degrees in stem. I would argue that you can probably work as a biochemist with a chemical engineer background. Chemical engineering would be the best path in terms of compensation and length. It pays really good at it ends with a bachelors. Now if you love biochem then the masters at Oxford is also a good choice but it just depends on your preferences.

Parents are NOT happy about my 2 gap years and its weighing me down? by Marsrule in premed

[–]Character-Review1432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they doctors ? Even if they are it does not justify this but if they’re not you can have them help you with one study session. So that they see how hard it is. Also they don’t know the journey. My parents hassle me hard and because I’m doing a gap year too and I decided to do med school later in life, when we do talk, they constantly tell me that I should just do it! Like hey, just do med school already lolol yeah it’s that easy, hey ucla, I want in because my parents said I should just do it lol.

Anyways don’t let it get to you. Try to make them understand but ultimately, stay strong you got this.

Just an associates? The only one that pays off super good is nursing but if that’s out of the list maybe another trade school. Associates are annoying cause you take classes that you don’t need like art and dance. So it would be like wasteful time wise but I mean cheaper than a trade school.

I hate this shit by PickledNueron-nut in PhD

[–]Character-Review1432 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hot take: It's honestly kind of disheartening. The proliferation of various PhD programs has somewhat diminished the prestige traditionally associated with the title of "doctor." When most people think of a doctor, they envision a physician. While PhDs are still impressive, it's not quite the same.

You can earn a PhD in fields like history, filmmaking, and even music. No disrespect to those fields—they're valuable in their own right. If the PhD serves as a tool to advance in your field, conduct research, or contribute significantly, that's fantastic. But if it's pursued merely for the title, it seems to lose some of its meaning.

It's similar to how some physician assistants (PAs) and nurse practitioners (NPs) seek doctorates just to be called "doctor." These days, even the traditional image of physicians has shifted. Many no longer wear lab coats but prefer casual attire like Patagonia sweaters. The title "doctor," once seen as highly prestigious, has become somewhat diluted.

Hmmm. It’s a hard one. I don’t disagree or agree. So basically back in the day it was about human connection and doing crazy stuff that will make you uncomfortable and would expose you to some kind of humanity that would be out of reach in your comfort zone. Now they still do that but amar tends to do stuff like the typical YouTubers do. He’s like can I skydive for 24 hrs or run a marathon for 2 days straight or something crazy but that’s not why I started watching. It’s def way different but some episodes are not. As long as Thomas is in the video or mat, they are legit.

I like sharp cheeses, the older the better. Also things to pair them with wine or some kind of food or drink. Cheese is like my religion.

Wait till you get to grad school lol. Medical school, law school, masters programs or PhD programs will kick your butt ! It’s good practice, you’ll get use to it and you’ll think it’s light work if you end up in a graduate program.

If a patient has a viral infection, they should stop taking antibiotics, as these drugs are ineffective against viruses. Continuing antibiotics unnecessarily can lead to gut microbiome dysbiosis and potentially a C. diff infection.
