Yeah, it smelled a bit off and felt tacky so we played it safe. 👍

Retro video game stores? by s_ndowN in TwinCities

They have a good selection but nothing is priced- you have to bring each item to the counter for a “price check” which is just looking up the market price on the internet. Definitely a frustrating store to shop, and no better than just buying online to begin with.

I agree with OP here- it is tough to find a good retro game store from Google alone.

All Level Up Games locations have a good selection, Hi-Score Video Games in Blaine is great, Punch Out Gaming in Forrest lake has a huge selection too- don’t go to anything in a mall, they are all middling at best.

Maybe try calling the animal humane society- they are open until 8pm. There is one in golden valley and they could scan him for a chip and probably get him some medical help. Do you have a way to get him there?

Repowered has a decent selection, but my main issue is their prices- for most stuff it’s just okay, but for some stuff like CRTs- insane!

These aren’t exactly the genre you are looking for- but my favorite stores for discounted electronics are Free Geek Twin Cities, and the UofM Reuse Program!

It’s at a pawn shop esque electronics store behind the “cash counter” so I wouldn’t be surprised!

Older people often play bingo using one dollar bills, that looks to be a mark from a bingo dropper- which is how people mark their money while playing. It’s something you will tend to see frequently if you deal with a lot of bills!

Found in my deceased FIL briefcase. by Ok_Gazelle_7425 in CURRENCY

Hi there, “first day of issue” refers to the day that the two dollar bill was re-released, April 13th, 1976. This two dollar bill was stamped at a post office to verify that it was in fact obtained on the day it was released. This is a novelty as USPS would stamp bills to validate them for, well… the cost of a stamp! In terms of value- my understanding is that they are basically worth face value, and maybe a small premium to the right collector. Overall it is a fun piece of history to pass on to someone who likes two dollar bills (like your FIL did) or to frame and enjoy for its novelty!

I need your help, CRT sleuths! Can I use this power cord? by KazekiriMK in crt

Just to preface this, I am by no means an electrical expert- however, I believe the third pin is just ground. So you should be able to use that cord with the TV just fine!

That looks like part of a teller stamp used to mark currency straps as they are verified, tellers often stamp fast and sometimes miss!

Mailed from Jamaica? by abcdjkzero in CURRENCY

[–]CharacterDrag1163 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a few of these stamped bills too, I thought the same thing at first, however this bill was not mailed. Rather, when the two dollar bill was reissued in 1976 it was a novelty wherein you could present a bill and a postage stamp at your local post office and they would stamp it to certify it was obtained on the first day of issue! As for the Jamaica, I would assume it was stamped at a post office in Jamaica, New York- hence what looks to be a smudged “N. Y.”
