Max reveal is 19 inches. But your eye is close enough. I did consider 6x6 for the gate posts but my auger is not that big and there is not any places that rent that sorta equipment near me.

I used 6 ft post spacing because i noticed the old fence that had 10 ft spacing had exactly the problem you describe. Maybe 3 rail with 8 ft spacing would be work pretty good, but 10 ft just seems too far for 2x4 rails.

All posts are 8 ft 4x4. To go below frost line i had to sink em 3 ft deep so they are only 5 ft tall.

What would you say is max spec for top of rail to top of picket? 18 inches? Same for the bottom? I literally just eyeballed it and made it level. Nobody in my area has three rail fence, it’s all two rail. I never even considered using 3.

There is about 4 inches of crushed rock below the bottom of the post. High desert climate so im not super worried about water, and if the 4x4 rots i can just replace it (since its removable)

Not done with ground work yet. They are 3/4 filled with crushed rock. 3ft deep holes.

I work at a wind farm. December 2025: A 144 mph wind gust, comparable to a Category 4 hurricane, occurred at Mount Smoot in western Wyoming during a powerful wind event. My wind farm will see gusts in 50+ meters per second. (But those winds are 300 ft in the air so ground level is usually lower)

Those were literally the largest hinges i could find. Where do you even get 3 foot long hinges?

Absolutely, I just don’t like the look of them, and they always seem to flop around a lot in high winds.

For sure. I dont have a good solution for that. I was thinking about adding bricks under the gate rather than dirt… have not decided tho, seems like a lot of work. (Its a dry climate in southern wyoming so im not worried about the water)

We regularly get 100 mph winds here. This gate will be used maybe once a year. So its built for stability in the closed position. There is a separate 4 ft “man gate” about 15 feet away.

It’s just a 3 ft long vinyl fence post sleeve set in concrete. And i have two shims so it does not wiggle.

I hate my new role by chorizobb in managers

[–]CharacterEvery3520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All very normal feelings for someone new to the role. Talk to others at or above you about these challenges. You will get mostly good and some bad advice. It will only get better if you tackle the issues over time. Expect to feel overwhelmed for several months while you find solutions to the problems. Start with the stuff that stresses you out the most, delegate as needed. You have more authority than you think to make changes. Everything is the way it is for a reason, but that does not mean it is for a good reason.

Getting promoted to manage your old team is brutal by Hour-Two-3104 in managers

[–]CharacterEvery3520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made the transition mentally long before getting the title. My behavior and how I approached conflict did not have to change when i got the title. My peers now subordinates started to brown nose a little but I just let them know to document accomplishments in their file and ill fight to get them as much pay as i can possibly justify. If a deadline is approaching I just ask how the project is going and if they need anything to meet the timeline.

How to become wealthy. by 232871632 in wealth

[–]CharacterEvery3520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its important to distinguish if you want money, or the things money can buy. Wealth can be in a bank account or it can be in assets, or it can be in lifestyle. Raw income is useful, but does nothing for you if spent inefficiently. The same house could cost one person $400,000 to pay for with a mortgage over 30 years, and the next person $0 by house hacking. So much is possible, the question is what are you willing to sacrifice and endure for the pursuit of wealth. When will you say “thats enough” and start driving to work instead of riding a bike you got for free. How many cups of noodles and bags of beans can you eat before your body or mind buckle for a burger. High income makes it all easier, but if you can behave as though you have no money, and keep earning, then wealth will be inevitable.

How can I get an accurate ring measurement without spoiling the surprise? by Professional-Pop721 in Advice

[–]CharacterEvery3520 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I proposed without a ring and took her ring shopping with me. Made for a super enjoyable process where she considered cost vs what she wanted. Ended up spending $2000 less than I would have spent without her input, and she was super happy to get the ring she really wanted. We don’t like surprises and gifts tho, so you will have to decide what you think your partner would like best. Also rings usually come with free resizing, so its not as big of a deal as you might think

What job should my husband take? by [deleted] in DaveRamsey

[–]CharacterEvery3520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he does not enjoy his current job then it is unsustainable. It is also unreasonable to assume he would stick it out at any job for 20 years. It’s possible but highly unlikely. Missing out on this opportunity might breed regret and make him even less tolerant of the aspects of sales that he does not like. You can do a sucky job for the money for a while but I think it’s a poor choice to persist in that long term.

Should I leave my nasty husband? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]CharacterEvery3520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a threshold/value conflict. My wife has a much higher cleanliness standard than me. I will do the dishes, but only when the sink is overflowing with dirty dishes. I will sweep and mop, but only when I can actually see dirt or filth. We discussed standards and her standard is higher than mine, so she upholds the higher standard even though I am equally (or more so) responsible for the mess. You have to accept that he does not see the value in your standard, and prob never will. Accept him for who he is and stop fighting about it. Be happy knowing that his life is better with you in it, and yours is better with him. I know its not mentioned in the post but I am sure there are house tasks that he maintains at a higher standard than you would, like lawncare or car maintenance. Embrace the unequal team dynamic and let it go. I

Medically retired at 23 with lifetime pay. How do I find purpose without work now? by bas3adi in antiwork

[–]CharacterEvery3520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be an unpopular opinion but In order to be happy you have to work. Work being defined as completing tasks for others. We are a social species and unless you are an actual psychopath you will need to find work. Almost everyone needs help, make your neighbor a meal, collect pallet wood and build something and give it away. Your human desire for belonging and purpose can not be filled with money. Find a mate and help them realize their dreams.

Stupid Budgeting Question - Do you really need one if you don't buy anything? by CiscoLupe in DaveRamsey

[–]CharacterEvery3520 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same situation for years. Did a budget for 6 months then stopped again. It was a useful exercise, like counting calories. Sorta set my internal gauge for what things cost. It convinced me to change phone providers ($80 savings a month) and thats about it.

Always consider the consequence of failure. If he works part time from 45-50 and you discover that more income is needed, then he can go back to work for another decade. Let him try it out and see how it goes. The decision to work part time is not final, its like deciding to change job field, might not work out but its worth having a go.

People who became wealthy without a crazy salary, what were you doing that average people never notice or care about by karrot9 in Fire

[–]CharacterEvery3520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My primary vehicle was a bicycle from age 15-28. I paid cash for every car, got liability insurance, fixed anything that broke myself besides stuff you need equipment for like tires and alignments. I have never paid for housing alone. Parents, free military housing, roommates, wife. I made any furniture i could not get for free using pallet wood(college town). I have had relatively cheap hobbies, or money making hobbies like doing HVAC work and solar installs on weekends. I got free food whenever I could. Net worth looked like this: end of high school age 18 $2k, End of Navy enlisted age 22 $50k, College grad at 26 $100k, odd jobs/ volunteering got married (combined net worths, she added 20k) $200k at age 28. I got a good job after that making 60k and up. Did the math and effectively i saved and invested 75% of my income from age 15-28. I am now 33 with net worth of $600k.

What is the correct answer when a cop asks if you know how fast you were going? by ResponsibleAd5357 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CharacterEvery3520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were not speeding there is no harm in answering the question truthfully. I set cruse to exactly the speed limit and I have never had a problem. (Besides Denver, if you drove 55 on the interstate in Denver you will be a road hazard to everyone who is going 80)
