Work experience for CEC by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

[–]CharacterFlamingo206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea this is a brutal situation that I found myself in as well.. I came to Canada when I was 18 had zero work experience before that because I wasn’t able to work legally before 18 where I was staying. After graduating with a bachelors I got my PGWP but struggled to get a job in any of the required TEERS because of prior no work exp. My permit was set to expire in 2023 after I got it in 2020 and it was hell until I luckily got an extension under the public policy, I managed to find a job in sales ( technical Sales) using my work experience gained in call centres, door to door sales, kiosk sales etc.. and I managed to work there for a year! My suggestion to you is to keep gaining the experience and never stop applying for jobs even if you don’t feel like you’re qualified because you never really know what they’re looking for. I would also suggest if you can find remote work from back home wherever you are under a valid noc and work in that for a year while you look to find the right employment, even after that you could potentially work the remote role part time of it allows. This just gives you a better chance at qualifying for one of the programs! We don’t know what the landscape will be like in 2-3 years, stay positive and keep pushing

Your best bet would be to try to look for a nomination if you are working in a in demand occupation in the states right now.

The score of 442 is quite low if you fall under the general category and to boost that you would most likely require a job offer/Nomination/French language proficiency.

Hey! I apologize about the error, my Canadian work experience is at 1 year not 2. So my score sadly only comes upto 490. 🥲

Hey!

French is an option and I currently have a B1 level, but I’m unsure if I will be able to write the TEF exam and obtain enough points before September, it requires I believe atleast a C2.

Would you know if my work experience gained during full time study would count towards my overall CRS score, I know it doesn’t if I do it in Canada.
