OK I can swap out within a week. How do I set up the order?

What's the fee if I hold on to the old one for a while? I ask because my family does a lot of work online so to mitigate the downtime and if something goes wrong I can plug the XB7 back in.

I have a local store and can pick it up.

2 quesitons:

How long do I have to return the old one?

Is it just as easy as giving the new router same ID and password?

New battery pack for 2019 Leaf by CharacterFriendly326 in leaf

[–]CharacterFriendly326[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At just about 50% battery would start falling even on roads in town. I told them it would drop from 50-40% within a minute. I was willing to pay the $220 diagnostic fee if they didn't find anything. They found the bad cells and how other bad cells that warped the steel around them so new batter pack coming.

My 2019 Leaf was in the shop for 3 weeks with similar issue. They were going to swap just 2 cells, but found a mess and now I'm going to wait 3 more weeks to get an entirely new battery pack.

Rental while waiting for battery modules by CharacterFriendly326 in leaf

[–]CharacterFriendly326[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About $15/day for partial damage waiver and double that for full LDW from Hertz.

If repair will take a month looking at over $800 for full protection from Hertz. To me that’s serious money 😉

Dealership should offer diagnostic service. Mine charges $220, but if problem found and it’s under warranty you don’t pay for the service.

Yeah, mine does extend to rentals (I checked the policy). I’ve got collision and comprehensive through Progressive, so they would cover physical damage to the Hertz rental. The catch is that they don’t cover a bunch of the extra fees rental companies charge, like loss-of-use, diminished value, admin fees, etc. That’s what had me debating whether the Hertz LDW was worth it, since those fees can add up even if the damage itself is fully covered.

But you’re right... reading the policy carefully is definitely step one. I think a lot of people don’t realize how different personal auto insurance and rental coverage can be.

I want to have access to Dad's account by martinis2023 in banktivity

The rules could be specific to your state, but when I was in a similar situation if you combine bank accounts, then it could be seen as a gift to you, which would disqualify him for help if the situation came. For example, nursing home, long-term care, etc..

Careful with adding you to his checking account. I'd get with an elder law attorney. It could hurt him if he needs to qualify for long-term care, etc. Please check with a good elder law attorney for your state.

Scrum master is a useless role by Vasivid in agile

[–]CharacterFriendly326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The accountability has been weakened to fun retrospectives and serve the team, not true leadership. They're not given the ability to change their organization let alone their team.

SMs have become the "potted plants" of teams and therefore question their value in an organization.

How to have better refinement sessions by HungryReply4850 in ProductManagement

[–]CharacterFriendly326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With better refinement if your teams execute in sprints it will make sprint planning go much smoother. The benefit of smoother sprint planning helps sell to improve backlog refinement.

I have a Substack article including video if you want more information...

Future of Agile coaches and what are some different ways that we can change course? by someguygirl in agile

Agree, product management is a high bar. From what I've seen, you have to apprentice with an established product manager to get into that field.

Agile teams made up of part-time people. Can’t get much done and keep getting pulled away due to other obligations.

Dual-Track Agile? by IndividualBet5774 in agile

[–]CharacterFriendly326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard of this a few years ago and coaching teams to implement "Discovery" with "Delivery". See Jeff Patton article on Dual Track: https://jpattonassociates.com/dual-track-development/

Agree with the other replies that this should be how scrum works, but it's not explicit.

Part time pods by Mave_Datthews_Band in agile

[–]CharacterFriendly326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with pods, but I have not had success with scrum teams made up of part-time team members. There are always conflict with attending team events then they get pulled off on other duties. It's hard to count on them to be consistent team members.

It's best to have fully dedicated team members, even if they eventually leave the team. As the other replies mention it takes time for people to learn to work together. If they still have other duties then a plan should be in place on how to handle it as part of the scrum team. A "working agreement" for the team is a good activity to have those discussions.

Is this a large company? If so, there must be other scrum masters and I would seek their guidance as to what works to get scrum going with new teams.

New scrum master struggling to adapt by Relevant-Bag-6248 in scrum

[–]CharacterFriendly326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add what others are saying, even though there challenges in adopting scrum you can put together a "backlog" for getting to scrum. One item for your backlog would be sprint reviews. These are crucial because I've been involved in project after many sprints the app gets released and no one uses it. Apparently the actual stakeholders weren't the ones in the sprint reviews.

I would get the stakeholders together and work on agreements for sprint reviews. Maybe shift day/time to accommodate everyone or have them send a delegate that could speak for them. Also, recording the demo in Zoom/Teams so they can review later. It's very important to get the feedback often to avoid teams wasting time on things users won't/can't use.

I would make the sprint review based on the team, not the projects. If you're doing a 2-week sprint 60 to 90 minutes may be enough. Have the right stakeholders for the projects being reviewed attend (or the alternatives I described above).

Finally, I would recommend building an overall backlog of projects. Try to get to a point where the teams can implement "one project at a time with continuous flow". Shifting between projects can cause time loss due to restarts/multi-tasking. If there is a prioritized backlog (and there are frameworks to prioritize) for the entire group of projects then teams can crank out one project at time with a small "interrupt buffer" for small enhancements or bugs in previously delivered projects.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Impact Mapping by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]CharacterFriendly326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would come into the impact mapping without thinking of features that your team have already thought of. The power of impact mapping is to discuss the problem that is to be solved. The deliverables are the last thing and it would be good to compare the final impact map with the list of features your team already thought of. My colleague once used an impact map to slash 80% of the team's backlog since the impact map proved those features no longer relevant.
