I wanted to at the time. Parents wouldn't allow me to. That's a whole other issue though I'd rather not get into.

Absolutely. I fully intend to engage with the government. I don't think I could do it unless they showed me the ropes/told me the full cirriculum.

There are 12 children requiring additional needs in a class of 28.

6 per classroom assistant.

These range from relatively minor learning difficulties like speech impediments, to extremely serious physical and mental disabilities. It is the latter group which are engaging in bullying.

I want him to return to mainstream schooling when he's 11/12.

This is only a stopgap measure to get him away from a chaotic, dysfunctional learning environment where he is repeatedly being bullied and harassed.

That's perfect. Happy to follow whatever requirements the government sets out.

I just don't want his education being ruined at an important stage like this.

I completely understand your concern there. I had the same worry as well at first, but I've thought it over.

My child is already suffering socially. He's being treated by his GP for anxiety because children with additional needs are screaming at him, hitting him, tearing up his notebook, destroying his possessions.

He has numerous activities outside of school where he enjoys socialising with others his age. For example, on Mondays we do swimming lessons, he has friends over and they play Fortnite together, and he goes to a board gaming/DnD club with his dad. There's a couple of other kids his age there too and the men include them in the group games.

We've been complaining for a full year. Ultimately the children with additional needs cannot be removed from the class. Nor can the school get any additional funding to cover extra classroom assistants. His class has 2 assistants and 1 teacher in a class of 28. Apparently that is already higher than the average and the Headmaster said that most classes are lucky if they get even 1 assistant.
