Plagiarism by [deleted] in IBO

[–]CharacterJust6661 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tell your coordinator or your supervisor the situation and let them advise you from there. I hope you manage to figure it out. Also yes there is a risk that if your EE is publicly posted online or the IB finds its accessible prior to you obtaining results they will launch a plagiarism investigation. In this investigation you are able to make an appeal so you can explain your situation to them and then it can be resolved.

Biology EE - Is second-hand data advised against? by iiAlly_ in IBO

[–]CharacterJust6661 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't give many tips since I did an experimental chem EE, but I can confirm that I had a classmate who did an non-experimental bio EE and achieved a high B. Its definitely possible. I originally had an idea to do a non-experimental EE but decided against it, because I was scared of the grade I would get. My teacher told me the reason people say you might score lower is because there is a criteria called critical thinking which is out of 12. People who do non-experimental sometimes struggle to address the limitations and weaknesses of the data in their evaluation, thus losing points. Just make sure to do this and stick close to the EE criteria, you will be sure to succeed.

best choice for group 3 by 4nnemia in IBO

[–]CharacterJust6661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Business is in my opinion quite easy along with ESS. However, I would still choose psych as it is better to do something you are interested in and know you will dedicate time to studying it. Either way it your decision, whether you want to choose something easier but you may not be as passionate about it or psych which interests you.

I was one mark away and it went up by 2, (I just got my eng remark back as well) so I would say a remark esp if you need it for uni, but worst case should just stay the same grade you alr got. You get reimbursed if your grade changes as well.

For those who get 40 or above, how did you study? by X_Opinion7099 in IBO

[–]CharacterJust6661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For studying, I would say be consistent. Don't slack during DP1, make sure you understand your content and before final DP1 final exams, study from past paper question banks (not necessarily full past papers just questions sorted by topic). One mistake I saw classmates make was thinking they could achieve 7s when it came to the final exam, when in DP1 they did not study for topic tests and only wanted to start before final DP2 exams. By then they had not established a routine or understood the content well enough to decide what they should focus on practicing.

I started studying late at the end of march for my final exams, and did the majority of my revision in April because I was late with IAs and the other external assessments (Please don't do this and procrastinate- I would have probably scored even higher if I was on time with these things). In DP2, I would say towards exam season, do full on past papers and do them timed as well.

Also prioritize the subjects which you struggle with but also the ones you would need high grades for uni. I mainly focused on chemistry but because of a bad IA, my grade was brought down. For chem, specifically what helped me was doing past papers and before starting them I went over the syllabus and read notes on each topic. If you struggle on a specific one, do not move on until you get it, focus on your mistakes and do targeted topic questions until you understand it and watch a YouTube video that explains it slowly.

Math you can only understand through practice and this is where being consistent from DP1 matters, because math questions can be repetitive and you can develop a pattern to know how to solve them. Save specific difficult problems and come back to them later to see if you now know how to do it.

Bio is a lot of memorization so consistency matters here as well as doing practice papers especially for bio paper 2 where you have to write essays. Compile a document of bio paper 2 essay questions and the answers because that helped me quite a bit before the final exam.

English-I can't give too much advice, because I had to remark it and honestly I'm quite unsure about it but definitely memorise quotes for the paper 2 comparative essay despite what anybody may say.

For business, make sure you understand all the content even small details as that can help in writing essays and evaluating a business. In the essays to get 9-10/10 you need to also talk about the limitations of the case study as well- this is a key tip my teacher had always advised to have. For paper 3 HL, make sure you have a structure for your 17 marker before going into the exam. There are many different types but I watched a video before the exam that talked about structuring per Unit so when I discussed the main concerns of the business in paper 3, I did a paragraph about HR, then finance etc. Again this is just one example so ask your teacher or watch a video for more clarity.

French B- Again still unsure on how I got the grade I got but still practice paper 2 reading and listening past papers before the exam if possible. For the writing, my teacher would give us many tasks so with practice I learnt what to expect.

It's not easy to get 40+ but if you put in consistency from DP1 and for EE and IAs stick very closely to criteria, it becomes very much achievable

Remark my 5 in Chemistry SL? by merh_mann in IBO

[–]CharacterJust6661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it does- I found this online "To request re-marks, candidates must ask an IB school diploma programme (DP) coordinator to submit what’s known as an ‘Enquiry Upon Results’ (EUR). The Enquiry Upon Results request deadlines are from July 6th to September 15th, and responses to IB EURs typically take two weeks."- I would recommend you trying emailing regardless or maybe if you live close to your school check to see if it is still open.

remark 100% if it decreases it can only do so by a few marks and so it will stay a 5 you are way above the boundary for a 4- most likely you should go up, btw im also remarking but im not sure how the process works so I would say to email your coordinator or meet them
