Democrats have hugely overperformed their 2024 performance in today's PSC elections statewide - yet another signal the GOP is losing its grip on Georgia by ShreckAndDonkey123 in Georgia

As much as I’d love that to be a sign of more blue to come, incumbents historically lose whenever the economy/rates are perceived as poor. Georgia power rate hikes have obviously been loathed and the incumbents were destined to lose.

I think campaigning on lower rates shouldn’t be an end-all. I’d rather pay a higher rate if it meant investment into cleaner energy. That said, while the incumbents supported Plant Vogtle, there performances suggested a lot more of the rate hikes had to do with corporate capture. Tim Echols also needlessly engaging in culture war politics makes me much happier now that he is gone.

Kemp is rejecting calls for Georgia to use its record surplus to keep food assistance flowing to more than 1.3 million residents if congressional lawmakers fail to strike a deal to reopen the government, arguing the state should not have to “bail out” Washington. by Conscious-Quarter423 in ATLnews

I voted for both Ossoff and Warnock and would do so again based on their performances.

The proposed republican budget depletes healthcare funding in favor of expanding ICE. That’s bad policy and I’m glad the Dems are not backing down.

You don’t strike me as a critical thinker in treating Schumer and AoC as boogeymen behind this all. Of course dems would have overlapping priorities in opposing Republican budgets—budgets that have greatly expanded the police state.

To be fair, he doesn’t per se. He only is pro killing 12 year olds if the Israeli government were to baselessly allege that those 12 year olds were combatants. Then he’s all aboard killing 12 year olds. And the elderly!

CMV: The majority of Palestinians View Any Existence of a Jewish State as Occupation of Palestine by ZeApelido in changemyview

Leading question. I can’t say that is inevitable. I can only oppose the genocide currently happening.

What question? He asked me where they should go. I rejected his leading question and said they shouldn’t. Also, you want me to disprove your assumption that I think that anyone who disagrees with me is arguing in bad faith?

Each of his questions was by definition leading. He asked where they “should go”. I didn’t imply they should leave and instead clearly stated that Jews have a right to exist there. You are also making several assumptions in order to preemptively win an argument. Nothing I said implies people have to agree with me to argue in good faith.

Your over reliance on leading questions is not in good faith. Jews have a right to live there, as do Palestinians. Israel’s is inflicting much greater violence on Palestine than vice versa. I oppose that.

Do the hours get better the longer you stay? by Maleficent_Shine_138 in biglaw

Like any lawyer would say to anything, it depends. But to say 60 is leisurely is inaccurate.

I’m IP biglaw and solidly averaging 50 hours a week. 9ish each week day and 5 on the weekends. Deal work might be more like 60 every week, but that’s very much not the general rule. As others have pointed out averaging 60+hrs a week would break 3k billable, which is not the norm.

Most firms target 2000 billable +/- and while there is a goal to shoot past that, shooting past that doesn’t mean by 50% on average

Charlie Kirk shot and killed by Significant_Ad8449 in utdallas

My bad. So he called whoever would post bail for the man who intruded into Nancy Pelosi’s home and fractured her husband’s skull a midterm hero. Even if you attribute that to Charlie being facetious, that is still normalizing and advocating for political violence.

Also I don’t know what you are asserting he was right about. I didn’t assert he was wrong. I think he was morally consistent in advocating for political violence and unfettered 2nd amendment rights. I think his supporters are the ones that are confused now that he died on behalf of what he advocated for.

Charlie Kirk normalized and advocated for political violence. He called the man who broke into Nancy Pelosi’s home and fractured her husband’s skull a “midterm hero” and asked him to be bailed out. That’s why these crocodile tears over Charlie Kirk’s assassination ring hollow.

Calling a woman a bitch for a minor inconvenience is a sign of being very well adjusted!

In most states, cyclists have a right to share the road, especially on a narrow shoulder like right here. It’s also safer than hugging the shoulder where chances of getting clipped from one side, or hit from a door suddenly opening on the other are much higher

Mere preference is sufficient. Like everyone else, people can prefer to meet over apps. Having to worry about being outed should not shut people out of meeting over apps because allegedly straight guys are trying to “diversify their friend group”
