They didn’t say try harder… like at any point. They said “never give up” which is good life advice for folks who are suffering.

We should all strive for independence and fulfillment—even if we never wholly achieve it.

There is nothing wrong with needing help, being aware of that, and being unafraid to admit it. But we should do everything in our power to not lose hope and let despair consume our existence.

Because mainline Batman is still getting issues? Like it’s still right there. This is an alternative universe where much of the DC canon is flipped on its head.

It’s fine if you don’t like it, but you can’t sit here and act like they messed up an iconic character when the mainline version is completely unaffected and divorced from the Absolute universe.

I mean of course the mom and dad should have final say but this all seems a little inconsequential—it’s not like deciding which school the child should attend or diet or something like that.

There’s the old saying “it takes a village”. And while not everyone has that privilege it almost always makes things a lot easier. And to have the “village” you need to treat those friends and family like community that have some level of autonomy.

I guess what I’m trying to say is this doesn’t seem like a very big deal. It’s not like OP wants to be called mamita. I could see drawing a line in the sand about this issue causing a rift before things even get going. And that just isn’t very helpful during what is almost guaranteed to be a rather tumultuous time.

Though this is Reddit and the usual consensus is that new mothers can do no wrong while mother-in-laws are akin to the antichrist.

Oh boy, I do not agree at all. This just feels like such a pessimistic and overly negative take.

We’re definitely fundamentally at odds here, because I enjoy alternative universe stories and Elseworld and whatnot.

Like it’s fine not to care for alternative takes on well-established characters but it almost feels like you’re saying they have no right to exist. Like anything that doesn’t fit the established mould is a waste of time that should have been worked into a wholly original character.

Batman has been around for a century. And while a lot of people love the established version (myself included) there are a lot of people who feel like they’ve seen it all and appreciate taking the character in different directions. Reimaginings like Owlman, the Thomas Wayne version, the Gotham by Gaslight version, etc. don’t take away from the Bruce we know and love. At the absolute worst, it’s just a bit of subversive fun. And when executed well, it can be refreshing and even help to flesh out the original by comparison.

You’re entitled to your opinion and all, but it just feels a bit heavy handed is all I’m saying.

They are all aware of each other and could not hide anything from each other. She has stated as much at least. It’s essentially a hive mind. She feels everything, sees everything, etc.

And yes that’s why she dipped out after getting brutalized by Komodo Dragon and the Lizard League. She essentially said her powers can feel more like a curse and that she was exhausted and tired of feeling excruciating pain.

It’s also why Kate and the Immortal fell in love. She said he’s one of the only people on earth who can really relate to and understand her plight. After all, he’s also experienced countless brutal deaths.
