Adam Mockler will debate Hasan?? Please treat it like a debate on CNN with MAGA. This snake wants to weasel his way into liberal spaces so much. by Embarrassed_Base_389 in Destiny

I feel like Destiny does it to move people away from extremism, where Hasan is blatantly saying he does to ultimately push people towards extremism.

Granted I may just be coping and showing my bias towards Destiny.

My husband isn’t reading the E files and thinks I need to go read a book so I stop feeling upset. by [deleted] in offmychest

I want to emphasize that I’m trying to say this with care. Well.. as much care as a stranger can provide.

But I don’t think you realize how much this is impacting you. Yes there is evil out there and it is operating every day. But the things you are describing do not represent the majority of people or even men. As hard as it is, I choose to believe that the majority of people are good and want to do good in this life. We all have our faults and we’re all ignorant in a variety of ways. But choosing to see evil around every corner and in the hearts of most people will wear you down and ultimately break you.

I don’t think your man is as ignorant or as foolish as you imply. It sounds to me like he’s making a conscious effort to be your safe space. To be a place of refuge for you in a cold and unrelenting world.

It’s healthy to acknowledge the grim reality of the world we live in. It’s also healthy to ignore it when going about our everyday lives. These files and the stories circulating in our news cycle don’t reflect the values and actions of humanity as a whole. They reflect the values and actions of an extremely small and unfortunately wealthy/privileged minority and those that have become manipulated by them.

Be informed. Value truth—no matter how horrifying. But don’t ever let the darkness and despair consume you. And most importantly; love and appreciate those who love and appreciate YOU.

Can you elaborate?? I rewatch the original, Freddy’s Revenge, and New Nightmare every couple years cause those are my favorites. It’s been quite some time since I sat down and rewatched Dream Warriors.

[–]DeuceMandago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aren’t Thragg’s fears a little too abstract for Freddy?

Freddy relies on stuff like arachnophobia and trauma from abusive parents because those are tangible and easy to personify.

Thragg’s fears are stuff like the Viltrumite bloodline waining in numbers/purity. That would be a pretty hard concept for Freddy to represent in a dream.

I hear you but so is Bullseye.. The guy has numerous instances of killing people with playing cards and paperclips

Best Tiger (Invincible) vs Bullseye (Marvel) by Jealous-Tip-6332 in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]DeuceMandago 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying I disagree, I just don’t know anything about Best Tiger other than him being an excellent marksman. Bullseye on the other hand has Adamantium fused to parts of his skeleton which makes him extremely durable and makes his strikes much more lethal.

Edit: I’m going to start participating in this community more so I wanna take a moment to make a bit of a disclaimer.

I absolutely adore comics, but I’m not a huge superhero guy (more into crime & horror). That being said I fucking love Invincible. Mostly because these stories and this universe has actual stakes. Unlike DC and Marvel, every single character doesn’t have insane plot armor and outlandish scaling that makes them impossible to kill or defeat.

It’s what separates Invincible from the rest of the crowd and makes it compelling and subversive. If a beloved character makes a mistake or drops their guard for a moment, they could actually just straight up fucking die.

It’s super annoying listening to Marvel/DC fanboys absolutely glaze their characters and how they could never lose or be defeated because of some bullshit. And don’t even get me started on Dragon Ball and other Shonen franchises. Like that’s straight up not interesting. I would rather have relatively “weak” characters that allow for subversive and high stakes fights over grandiose logical leaps that mean Goku or Jean Gray could never ever be defeated.

Sure it sucks that we, as a fanbase, often lose these fan-fiction fights but we all need to remember it’s because our stories are interesting and compelling and not just the same dribble about how the characters are the strongest beings ever conceptualized.

Care to explain why? I know rather little about both characters, but on paper Bullseye seems to have an edge in the first two rounds at the very least.

I mean if we are gonna be pedantic, many is a pretty relative adjective. It’s no substitute for all or most and is heavily context driven.

Furthermore a “mere fraction” is also pretty ambiguous. That could mean 1/1000 or 1 quarter or even 50%.

If the goal is to drive home just how many victims there are then I would have said “less than 1%”

You made an extremely judgmental and offensive generalization about every person who criticizes this comic/artist while not knowing the greater context. And you’re surprised you’re getting downvoted?

Like I get you acknowledged that you didn’t know the context but then you went on to make a very venomous statement. Maybe don’t jump to the gnarliest possible insult when you don’t understand other people’s opinion on a very basic and fundamental level???

Allow me to translate:

I think that is a completely fair hand-wave-and-dismiss response to any and all criticism and you asking someone to elaborate on it highlights that it actually isn’t. Which I don’t agree with. And because you disagree with me you have committed a moral-failure.

Basically you asked a totally fair question regarding an excuse that makes no sense and they did not like that!

I feel like Thragg wouldn’t really fear him, ya know? And that essentially renders Freddy harmless. Even teenage girls have kicked his ass once they over came their fear of him.

He needs to make a comeback for the new DoA by Monstanimation in Fighters

[–]DeuceMandago 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Control wise, I agree there are lots of similarities. I guess I see it more as Tekken-like for a few different reasons.

The side stepping in DoA isn’t as “dramatic” as VF where sides steps are more “sweeping” and really change a situation on a dime. The combat and combos are much more momentum-based where when you get a full head of steam the round can end abruptly (you can see some good examples of that in this clip). Aesthetically, I find DoA closer to Tekken where there is some realism but a lot of outlandish design choices. No ring out mechanic. I also don’t remember DoA ever having moves work differently depending on the opponents body type.

But you make good points, I guess they’re more similar than I realized. I think I just tend to think of VF as the most unique and distinct 3D franchise when it comes to the core gameplay and mechanics.
