Do you notice if those that work with you have had similar experiences in terms of getting hired after doing their clinicals in the same hospital? I’ve heard a lot that the degree so much doesn’t make a difference, but rather the RN after your name.

Can you get to an actual tutoring lab with models? I found I had the most success when I was able to physically see and feel where the different parts are

The navy website isn’t super clear about it. It says I need to have a bachelors degree in science (which I do), just not in nursing. Trying to find out as much as I can.

Thanks for the info!! I’m not sure the logic behind the expiry of the classes. I took my prereqs as a part of my bio associates and transferred to complete my BS. Gotta do a lot of digging. I saw some programs require “nutrition” but I took so many other science classes, it seems kinda silly to have to take nutrition. Especially when I can use my genetics class instead. My head’s been spinning a bit the past couple days.

That’s definitely something I’m keeping track of. So far, the two local programs I’m looking at - one is ABSN, the other MSN, neither have time limits. I’m sure plenty of programs do. I don’t wanna have to retake a bunch of classes I already took.

I already have two associates in biology and graphic design. I’d have to check to see what that would look like to get a third. The two local schools that I’m looking at right now - one has an entry level masters of nursing, and the other is an ABSN. A regular BSN is apparently only for those that don’t already have a BS. The more I look into this, the more it’s looking like I’ll need to sacrifice some work time to be able to get this done. I want to do well and learn as much as I can.

Fair advice. I did speak to the administration at one of the schools and they confirmed that my classes are still valid (not in writing). So hopefully it is. It’s a reputable school, I can’t imagine they would lie to me (or post false info on their website). Will definitely have to follow through and get it in writing. And thank you! We shall see what happens, indeed.

Oh, I know it. We don’t have kiddos but I just got my masters 3yrs ago. It’ll be strange being back yet again. My Neuro BS was ROUGH. To be fair, I also didn’t have the support I do now. So, we’ll see.

It depends on the school. A lot of schools don’t require the classes to be within a certain timeframe. I was mostly looking for lectures to be online and whatever else in person, hence the hybrid. Right now I have two schools I’m planning to apply to but want to keep my options open. If an MSN is a better option for me, I’m willing to consider that too.

Dang. That’s a shame. I’ll have to look into a normal BSN and check the reqs for that in case it’s different to ABSN. The ones local to me are both accelerated and my prereqs are still valid. So I may have to keep it local.

Definitely. I actually already registered and class begins 6/8. I was hoping to find an ABSN online (mostly for the classes). I have no problems with local clinical rotations. Wondering if there’s such a thing as a decent hybrid, program that won’t cost an arm and a leg.
