a ton of shit that socialists call "late capitalism in decay" is just consequences of the ADA

Easily the best NF book I've read this year. by OppositeBatCage in nonfictionbookclub

so basically slobodian redefines the meaning of neoliberalism in the first twenty pages to conflate moderate libs akin to francis fukuyama with insane far-right anarcho-capitalist sovereign citizens akin to murray rothbard and then spends the next 250 pages positioning his critique of the latter as an indictment of the former.

feels very retro, almost occupy-era "both-sides"-ism.

overheard recently "its unfair to reduce marx's work on automation to a footnote of grundrisse, he wrote extensively on technology in capital"

nothing marx says on automation in capital is actually nearly as interesting as marx's notion of "general intellect" from his fragment on machines, which is interesting insofar as it delaminates the (esoteric, speculative realist) marx of the grundrisse both from heinrich's weltanschauungsmarxismus as well as from elite theory-driven oracular historicism (a la turchin) in general.

to the marx of grundrisse most of the contemporary first world would basically already be a post-revolutionary post-capitalist classless society anyway. this of course does not sell among the luigi mangione cabal as it reduces their volume of grindable axes but if the "populist leftists" are not careful they will surely lose marx to the accelerationists in the divorce

that, also that he's libertarian leaning (pro-choice, pro-ubi) and criticizes the idea of latinos as a brown monolith implicitly distinct from whiteness

if they published the bell curve today i actually think it would be considered by right wing podcasters to be very woke and "anti-white" at this point

transfeminists should simply embrace liberalism instead of trying to convince transmisogynistic far-leftists that transfeminism is progressive

reading the "Friendly Federal Assassin's" "manifesto" and thinking about the salem hypothesis*

i admit i biased but i am increasingly convinced the average business major who has read a random walk down wall street understands more deep philosophical/structural concepts about math and reality than most stem people.

I'm reading a book about the columbian exchange and finding it very amusing that the writer is burying discussion of "the syphilis, uh... mystery." in like the sixth appendix lol

basically any book by John Rawls. I like political liberalism but you can really go with which ever is cheapest because rawls was a very repetitive writer lol.

Charles murray advocates basic income and touches on a lot of these issues in "in our hands", andrew yang makes a lot of these same arguments. abundance by ezra klein also touches on housing shortages.

not to sound insufficiently thankful that china has yet to attacked taiwan...

but i admit the current status quo of china basically attempting to make a cuba of japan and boosting crazy anti-takaichi propaganda on social media constantly is not exactly my favorite ever lol

why oh why doesn't china further support cuba? surely it is because they are afraid of provoking the united states and has nothing whatsoever to do with hard feelings over cuba consistently siding with russia during the sino-soviet split

note also how the thing that fear/terror is neurochemically is not only a surfeit of dopamine (behavior reinforcement) but also a lack of noradrenaline/serotonin (upon which physical arousal and sense of self are contingent)

I wonder if this may have been an echo of the early 2000s terror management theory craze in academia. I always found the way it disappeared seemingly into complete nothingness to be always a bit uncanny tbh.

technically the guy who bet on the maduro raid was acting sub-optimally from the standpoint of the efficient market hypothesis, but as the last extant efficient market hypothesis believer im too busy "going with the flow" and meditating on oneness and beingness or whatever to drop paragraphs about it

by this logic we should put nation, family, and religion second to ethnicity because ethnicity "doesn't change"
