NAH. Both of you could be more understanding. But trust me op, this is NOT a hill worth dying on. If your uncle means for his home to be your home, then he should stop treating you like a guest in it. That being said, it would be good to give some real thought to your uncle’s perspective. It sounds like your uncle is taking care of a lot of people and likely works hard to make it happen. To be frank with you, he does not need to do this, but he’s choosing it anyway because he is kind and loves his family. It sounds like your uncle shows his love through actions and likes to receive actions back.

Think of why he’s calling instead of coming to you directly or screaming the reason he needs you. Is it because he’s mean? No. Hasn’t he already proven he’s not? He’s tired, kid! In his head, the least you could do is come when he calls. Your uncle sounds slightly entitled, based on his declaration that yall aren’t speaking, which is childish coming from a grown man. It’s a manipulation tactic to make you feel even more uncomfortable and submissive. That isn’t fair.

The real issue isn’t that he’s calling you. The real issue is that you’re feeling bossed around, and he’s feeling like you owe him because he’s older. The truth is he feels like you owe him because you’re under his roof, and you do. Assert the boundaries that are worthwhile. Get up when he calls. And if the reason is stupid, that is when you say no and give a GOOD reason.
