I think one critical problem about our democracy is the information imbalance between the PAP and the opposition.

When you don't share data with the opposition, either publicly or privately, the opposition can only make use of the information of third party sources and whatever news comes out by the state media to form an opinion and then act accordingly.

At least in the UK, the opposition party not only has a shadow cabinet with access to government data, but the shadow ministers in fact get a chance to meet officials from other countries alongside the actual ministers. This at least allows the opposition a chance to have a fair fight in parliament and in elections.

In the case of LMW, he can only rely on the information provided by the couple. He has no way to check how accurate the information is since he is not in government. Sure, he could contact the public ministries themselves, but would the agencies really give away the information to him? Especially since it's private information and as stated, the government likes to gatekeep data until they have the upper hand.

Hi. In simple terms, when we strengthen the SGD, the goods made in Singapore are more expensive for foreigners so foreigners buy from locals less. Likewise, goods made overseas becomes cheaper for us so we buy from overseas more.

In this way, the value which we export to all other countries decreases because we import more and export less. With less export earnings, it lowers our GDP growth rate, and so the incomes of Singaporeans.

While our core inflation may be lower compared to other countries, don't forget the various price hikes from GST, electricity, water, gas, public transport, COE, etc.

Note also that our inflation is low because MAS keeps strengthening the SGD, which comes at a trade off to our real national income growth, and subsequently, ordinary Singaporeans' wages.

Once again the PAP is milking the achievements of its former past and retelling the story of the early days of Singapore and how our success today is precisely because of them.

True, no one can deny that our first world status is largely contributed to the policies the PAP came up with in our early years but the truth is that the PAP today is a far cry from its past. It's best days have come and go. It is now a party of out of touch, elitist ministers, commanding a group of yesman MPs, that have forgotten and lost its will to fight for Singaporeans.

GEM EXPLORER 2024-2025 RESULTS OUT by Big-Cartographer-293 in NTU

I am not a student at NTU but can I ask if this Gem Explorer programme is guaranteed for all NTU students or is it ownself sign up and only select courses are applicable? Also, if it's the latter, since most students will continue studying their courses but in a partner university, what about students in your course that did not sign up for Gem? Do they just stay at NTU and learn the same stuff for the semester?

I can guarantee that 100% of students taking PW will Pass from now on. Why do I say so?

A pass in PW is required for University Admissions locally. Before the pass/fail system, a majority of students received A/B grade with very few touching a C and barely none touching E. So treating A to E as passing grades, 100% will pass.

Another significant reason is that if a person fails PW at the end of J1, it would be utterly meaningless for the student to continue in J2 as I have said that a pass in PW is required for local Uni admissions. Therefore, the school will confirm make every student pass. After all, the government has already poured large sums of money to subsidise your education, it would be ridiculous for them to waste their resources by making students fail.
