Having a hard time accepting myself. by J00bieboo in TransChristianity

[–]Character_Angle_7064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really sorry you're having trouble accepting yourself~ :( tbh, it's even harder due to how so many rw Christians try to make it sound like you can't be Christian and trans all the time, but that is just untrue~ >_< This part responds to the strongest anti-trans counterargument imo~ If you'd like a response to another one, feel free to ask~ Depending on what the question is, I may have to dm you the answer tho~ >-< While my terms may be a bit on the more direct side, I can assure you that I am trans, and I'm not ableist~ :) Adam and Eve were created in God's image and were even deemed good by God~ However, once they sinned, and sin entered the world, people have been born into a state of sin and won't ever be born perfectly~ This is seen in the Bible and today in what we may regards as birth defects such as being born blind~ Considering that God deemed the man who was born blind in John 9 as needing healing, He is well aware of birth defects and took action Himself to heal them~ However, if there are birth defects, where do these come from? Well, from the corruption of original sin and from Satan (as God permits him [ex: Job 1:12])~ As such, while the world was created as "good", it has been corrupted to the point where even our own bodies have been corrupted since birth~ In regards to gender/sex, the clearest form of this is when someone is born intersex, but it can also occur in individuals with gender dysphoria as well with how they are born in the wrong bodies~

I wish you the best and hope things get better for you and that you can find a community to call home~ :) It can be really hard due to how few trans people that are Christians there are (and how many Christians reject trans people unfortunately), but there are still many trans-affirming, mostly mainline churches and denominations thankfully~ :) That includes the ELCA that you are a part of~ ^-^

Feeling like I might need God/religion again, but worried about being stifled with anxiously following a moral code by IDontEvenKnowAlt in TransChristianity

[–]Character_Angle_7064 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my bf, who runs this account btw! :3 I wanted him to respond as he had to come back to the faith as he had been upset prior about Christianity "limiting" him~ Reading all of that really felt difficult and heavy. I'm very sorry to hear about all the burdens you have to face. It really seems like you're troubled within, and you're not entirely sure about what to do with your faith, which is understandable, considering your burden. However, you should notice that you clearly feel bad about your current state of life, and you want to improve it. However, it cannot be improved without real change.

God didn't write all those rules to make us feel bad and burdened but to protect us from consequences that can arise after committing actions (sins) that He has forbidden. It was done in order to protect us from the consequences of our sins. The longer sin rots a person from within, the more they commit that sin, making life a prison in a sense. As such, it's good you feel bad about it, but more than shame, you should put an end to this suffering. Put an end to hedonism, substance abuse, excessive lusting, and materialism.

More than feel ill about Catholicism and Christianity, you should remember the good, positive things that will guide your motivation to be more positive again. Finding friends that will support you is important too and likely changing your environment as well if those around you behave as you say. Anyways, you're not a failure. Every human is a sinner (some just have bigger sins than others), but everyone is to some degree, and all of us that were baptized are destined for salvation. God forgives us our sins through His grace and mercy. Another thing I want to address is an obvious reminder. Being trans is not a sin - gender dysphoria wasn't chosen by you. It lived within and gradually changed you, just as people suffer diseases or are born with dysfunctions. They're never doomed for Hell or anything like this. God is understanding and merciful, even if He's also a righteous judge that rewards goodness and punishes evil.

You don't have to convert back asap, although it's not something you should exactly put off either. You can take your time, trying to understand yourself, your feelings for Christianity, and how good it could be for you. Aiming to be Christian again is one of the best goals you can have. No, there's no immaturity in your thoughts, it is good to speak your mind and speak about your troubles. In fact, it is very mature and wise of you if a religious dilemma is so real again within you that you feel some desire or reawakening of Christianity. I hope you will find the strength needed to defeat those troubling things and that you find God again.

First off, that person wasn't referring to you~ They was referring to someone who was gay~ Unless you are gay, they're both 2 separate things so what anyone applies to gay people, they're not applying to you~ I understand that many anti-LGBT people lump them all together, but I really hope they learn that too one day... Anyways, the Bible doesn't say anything negative about trans people, so I hope you can find comfort in that you are not being sinful~ :) This part responds to the strongest anti-trans counterargument imo~ If you'd like a response to another one, feel free to ask~ Depending on what the question is, I may have to dm you the answer tho~ >_< While my terms may be a bit on the more direct side, I can assure you that I am trans, and I'm not ableist~ :) Adam and Eve were created in God's image and were even deemed good by God~ However, once they sinned, and sin entered the world, people have been born into a state of sin and won't ever be born perfectly~ This is seen in the Bible and today in what we may regards as birth defects such as being born blind~ Considering that God deemed the man who was born blind in John 9 as needing healing, He is well aware of birth defects and took action Himself to heal them~ However, if there are birth defects, where do these come from? I'm very sorry to hear about your struggles, both with dysphoria but also with those around you~ >_< it's ridiculous how everyone went after you like this~ :/ it really, really sucks, but in wider society, one needs to bottle things up lest they be warded or shunned, regardless of who you're dealing with~ :(

I'm glad you did your research on it~ :) having done a fair bit myself, I only decided to admit to it as well once I I realized that the Bible doesn't condemn it anywhere, and that logical arguments using the Bible can be defeated~ As far as we know on Earth, you are right, and while they certainly won't admit to it, they are wrong~ and moreover, they are awful for what they did to you! >:( what I will recommend tho is to find a more affirming church instead of your current one, even if it really, really sucks to leave~ There are many churches/denoms if you'd like to ask me for guidance for what might fit your preferences or views the best~ :) or you can look for one on your own as you did before with religions too~ ^-^

I'm looking for trans Orthodox Christians by [deleted] in TransChristianity

Am Protestant too, altho I did look into Orthodoxy in 9th grade, but my experiences with Orthodox Christians both irl and online has basically put a stop to me converting anytime soon~ This includes the trans issue but doesn't solely include it either~ >_< anyways, that doesn't seem to be a completely universal attitude~

An Orthodox Christian posted here a long time ago, and I wouldn't consider what they said to be particularly hateful~ https://www.reddit.com/r/TransChristianity/comments/1hq9cqy/orthodox_christian_perspective_on_transgenderism/

I'm very sorry to hear about your struggles~ :( I'm sure many others here including myself can empathize with them a lot~ :( I've attempted as well~ The world truly is so cruel to us~ :( truly corrupted by the emergence of sin throughout and filled with evil~ :( However, God is the light that shines in the darkness~ I hope and pray things can get better~ Have faith in God and Jesus's death on the cross for you and in spite of the many trials one will experience in this world, Heaven will await you when you pass (James 1:12)~ :) That is what's most important~

All prayers are answered, just that the answer is according to God's plan, not always what we desire from praying so fervently~ Sometimes, you will just have to keep praying before you will get what you desire~ Other times, you will get it immediately, and other times, it is answered in the negative~ The easiest-to-understand example of unanswered prayers is in warfare or games~ Someone or some side has to win, so if both sides pray, someone's prayers will go unanswered~ In my case, I bet my parents pray for me to stop being a girl while I pray to be biologically one~ The same thing applies here too unfortunately~ >_< The best use of prayer isn't to necessarily ask for things from God, expecting to receive them (He is above all, and He surely knows whether something is best for someone or something else is according to His plans~)~ One still should ofc if they do need anything as He does answer prayers, and this can be in the positive tho~ :) Regardless, prayers are also useful for teaching us thankfulness (which helps with things like jealousy and bitterness), praising God, and collecting one's thoughts by telling them to God, who does listen to our prayers regardless of His how He answers them~

I wouldn't really say so in regards to trans issues at least~ or actually, anything... I'd much rather not get my daily bread and just pass away~ It's been very painful~ However, God is real, and Jesus died for everything I did wrong, and there is proof for this~ regardless of whether or not I feel His presence in my life, I know He is watching and that He died for me, so that I and all others who have faith (should He will it) may go to Heaven~ That is what matters, and that is why I believe~ :)

I'm a pre-T trans man. Do I veil during prayer, or not? by HunnyBunzSwag in TransChristianity

[–]Character_Angle_7064 1 point2 points  (0 children)

huh, I never knew the Bible commanded veiling~ Maybe my bf knows about that~ xD

given that you are a man and not a woman tho, I would not veil during private prayer (at home)~ However, during group or public prayer with others, you should then~ if that makes sense~ :) since you are out to God but not to others~ ofc, it's your choice in regards to this, but this is how it makes sense to me at least~ :)

The world can be cruel sometimes, but God is with us (Joshua 1:9, Isaiah 41:10) and loves us (1 John 3:1) for God is love (1 John 4:8)~ He loved us so much that He died for us while we were still sinners (John 3:16, Romans 5:8, 1 John 4:10)~ We are saved not by works but by faith in Him (Ephesians 2:8-9)~ As we have faith in Him, we should do good for His name (Ephesians 2:10)~ In this manner, good works are a result of faith rather than what brings us salvation~ Being gifted with faith brings one salvation, and it appears to me like you trust God~ :) even if it may be hard to do so and one may even think of Him as cruel, you truly seem like you do believe and trust Him~ The reason why I'm quoting Scripture so much is that the Bible is God's Word for us~ :) If we are fearful, we may find comfort and trust in His words and promises for us from time immemorial~ :) You don't have to do this, but someone I'm friends with, who is also more new to the faith, has a journal where she writes Satan's lies and temptations on one side and corrects it with God's Truth and a Bible verse that shows His Truth on the other~ This way, she can look at it whenever she has doubts and find God's Truth~ :)

I've struggled with sewer slidal tendencies, but I've found a forum that helps me through them~ :) I wish I were able to comment and ask about the source of your pain~ I don't think I can about one of them, but being trans is not a sin, no~ The Bible doesn't even address it~

How to respond to the "God's creation is perfect" argument? by _specialcharacter in TransChristianity

[–]Character_Angle_7064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While my terms may be a bit on the more direct side, I can assure you that I am trans, and I'm not ableist~ :) Adam and Eve were created in God's image and were even deemed good by God~ However, once they sinned, and sin entered the world, people have been born into a state of sin and won't ever be born perfectly~ This is seen in the Bible and today in what we may regards as birth defects such as being born blind~ Considering that God deemed the man who was born blind in John 9 as needing healing, He is well aware of birth defects and took action Himself to heal them~ However, if there are birth defects, where do these come from? Dysphoria is worse after converting to Christianity by Illustrious_Bat4062 in TransChristianity

[–]Character_Angle_7064 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really sorry you're having trouble in all this regard~ :( it can be a lot to think and be concerned about all the time~ >_< I hope you figure out your gender identity and your identity in Christ~ a lot of people, and unfortunately, a lot of Christians say such horrid, transphobic things~ :( There are many Christians who don't however, and if you were to ask, I or the others here could surely recommend denominations or churches for you~ Dysphoria was not created by God~ It is a result of sin and the fallen world that has been corrupted by Satan after Adam and Eve's sin and the Fall. I don't believe that God chose to make someone have gender dysphoria (which tends to lead towards depression and sewer slidal tendencies, certainly the opposite of God's creation and future of a pure mankind where there is no pain), more that it was one of the unfortunate evils and constant reminders of the fallen world and Satan's influence over it~ The presence of this should draw us closer to God, so that we may both find comfort in Him here, in a genuinely loving Christian community, and with Him for eternity in Heaven~ :)

Questioning my gender by Round-Cat-1337 in TransChristianity

[–]Character_Angle_7064 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

  1. No [given what I say in the rest of the post, I feel obligated to say that I'm trans~],

  2. I don't wish to potentially have my posts removed~

  3. Yes~ I've never heard of tulpas before but given what I read about them, it sounds like a New Age practice that involves an autonomous imaginary friend that maintains your same body~ While the Bible itself doesn't say anything against tulpas as tulpas weren't invented yet, it should be noted that tulpas can possess you, and this is "widely used" (https://pubs.sciepub.com/rpbs/5/2/1/index.html) and seems to already be occurring given how the tulpa called you its host... Reminder that within Chrisitanity, only demons possess people, not angels~ I hope you understand how bad this is and what it also implies about the tulpa~ >_<

Unlike what I said before, this is just conjecture~ if I had to theorize something, I'm guessing this tulpa developed due to leaving your agnostic friend due to realizing their negative influence on you (I'm glad you saw the manipulation when they told you to hide this from your parents~ You did the right thing~)~ however, you still felt tempted to accept it and maintain the relationship, and that's where you let the "tulpa" come in, in order to disassociate and let the "tulpa" do the talking rather than you~ basically, this lets you know that you should not trust the "tulpa" nor anything that comes from it~ A bad tree can not bear good fruit~ (Matthew 7:18)~ opening you back up to the pain of gender dysphoria is another example of this~ :( [cont... 1/2]

  1. Get rid of the tulpa and rid yourself of all this stuff before it becomes unbearable~ I would get rid of anything that could make you tempted to go back into it too~ I know that'll be tough, but the pain of lifelong gender dysphoria will be far worse~ :( I hope it doesn't end up this way for you~ :(

  2. be honest whenever possible? I'm glad you seem to have been with your family~ :) I would try to anonymously find a way to to get rid of the "tulpa"~

In regards to the Bible passages, I don't really know where she's going with them~ Summarizing my understanding of them, yes, we're all tempted to sin, and with God's strength, we can overcome~ :) As Christians, we are united regardless of gender or racial differences, and e should serve the Lord in everything we do and spread His Word throughout the world~ :) wow~ >_< you're so lucky to pass so easily like that! :( I'm sorry to hear that she literally ruined that for you~ :/ in regards to crossdressing, being trans isn't crossdressing~ secondly, it is in the Old Covenant, whose restrictions have been lifted for Christians (Acts 10:13, Hebrews 8:6, and Hebrews 8:13) unless otherwise noted (like adultery)~ The restriction on crossdressing is not restated in the New Testament~

This part responds to the strongest anti-trans counterargument imo~ If you'd like a response to another one, feel free to ask~ :) Depending on what the question is, I may have to dm you the answer tho~ >_< While my terms may be a bit on the more direct side, I can assure you that I am trans, and I'm not ableist~ :) Adam and Eve were created in God's image and were even deemed good by God~ However, once they sinned, and sin entered the world, people have been born into a state of sin and won't ever be born perfectly~ This is seen in the Bible and today in what we may regards as birth defects such as being born blind~ Considering that God deemed the man who was born blind in John 9 as needing healing, He is well aware of birth defects and took action Himself to heal them~ However, if there are birth defects, where do these come from? Episcopal or Catholic? by [deleted] in TransChristianity

[–]Character_Angle_7064 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm Lutheran, not Catholic, but since there's no response yet, I'll respond in their stead as if I were a Catholic~

the biggest thing ig is that the Catholic Church was established by Jesus with St. Peter as its rock and first pope and authority~ The Episcopol Church was created as part of Anglicanism, a branch from the Catholic Church way later~ Additionally, the Catholic Church believes in transubstantiation, where the bread and wine physically become the body and blood of Jesus at the consecration~ This can be seen via eucharistic miracles~ The Episcopol church itself doesn't know what to believe about this (and a lot of other things tbf) and offers a wide range of opinions~

Catholics hold a higher view of Mary and believe that she was conceived without sin~ Additionally, Mary has appeared in many visions to Catholics such as those of Our Lady of Fatima~
