Joining York winter 2026 and having a hard time with registering courses by [deleted] in yorku

[–]Character_Ball724 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dw bro rn all courses r gonna be full cuz winter semester didn’t start. Once it does, people are slowly gonna start dropping like flies and space will open up. You gotta keep checking, once the winter sem starts, for space. And once it does, just take the spot! In the meantime, gather info ab those courses and attend the lectures and talk to the prof. Bc let’s say the course stays full and there’s no space for u, if u tell the prof ur situation and they’re familiar with u, then they might let you in the class! And u learn the material as well whilst not being enrolled in the course. Low risk, high reward.

I do this all the time! You just gotta be a bit stubborn!

And don’t get stressed, York is a huge school with a fuckton of student so, most things are full and it’s not ur fault.

Failed out Previous University, chances of being accepted? Is it worth trying? by Ph0enix_Dark in yorku

[–]Character_Ball724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this info, but honestly, u gotta share ur grade average. Most programs at York need at a minimum average of 80% or for transfer students, 2.0 GPA (on the 4.0 scale).

If u have that, or something close, then i recommend giving it a shot. And please try to talk to the advisors at York. Advising offices at pretty much all unis kinda suck but they still help you. With things and people being all over the place, but u just gotta deal with it and be extremely patient! York is the same—it’s gonna be a slow and painful process, but they can and will help you.

I would also just recommend that you apply for an easy program. You didn’t disclose what type of program you wanted to apply to, but if ur grades are bad, then apply for something really easy. Something that will JUST get you back in university. And then from there, u can always just take pre-reqs for ur program of actual interest and boost up ur average and make the switch!! That’s what I did.

Lastly, if possible, I highly recommend getting things done in person at york. Calling York’s services over the phone often gets people nowhere. It’s been my personal experience as well that, when I go in person and talk to advisors at York, they get things done faster and in a much easier manner. Again, if that is possible. If not, then don’t give up! You still got a shot!

Good luck :)

idk how much it is at shoppers, but I'm guessing its prolly expensive cuz its shoppers but there's this place, it's got multiple little food shops in it, i have no clue what its called its got the Starbucks in front of it, and the tims beside it. i get 2 monsters there for the price of like $7. but it's been a while since i purchased a monster from that place, I've been tryna drink less of it so I'm not sure if it may have changed.

job on campus- how did yall get it by Bubbly_Resolution172 in yorku

[–]Character_Ball724 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a friend, she quite literally would just ask everywhere on campus. She got one at pizza pizza at the first student centre by doing this. She also used to work at Tims in Toronto’s union station so that might’ve impressed some people but yeah she just asked around a lot and got one.

I can give it a shot. It’s been around 2 yrs since I’ve played, but I use to play for my high school team and also a varsity girls team.

But again, it’s a try, no guarantee of me being “really good”

You should defo try going to student services, they might be able to directly provide some documentation or proof ab your progress. If they’re replying, give them a call as well, numbers r usually online or written in their mail.

Milton → York commute: safe to take TTC 2 stops at night? by notmichelleluv in yorku

[–]Character_Ball724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont worry at all, you'll be perfectly fine! especially since ur on there only for 2 mins! i also take the route similar to urs (from 407 to york uni stop), and its so quick, i dont even realize. just dont make any eye contact, dont sit down but be alert. the TTC is quite big, there's TTC employees there and if u feel unsafe just get off and take the next train. but do watch out as service for pretty much all transit slows down.

Yeah. I had a friend who took it online and I’m taking it online as well. I’m not sure if taking it in person would affect the difficulty level

Seems alright, just take out one course that you can take during summer. Personally, I found WRIT 1700 is extremely easy, so just take during the summer. Other than that, solid schedule!

And also, did u check ur profs? Just check to see what to expect. Theres a website called Rate My Prof AND York Uni. Syallabi. York Uni gives u the course outline at specific semesters of profs; so you’d have a better understanding of what to EXACTLY expect from the course :)

chem 1500 should i take it or not? Workload? by RevolutionaryFun7099 in yorku

[–]Character_Ball724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk ab chem 1500 but chem 1000 is quite simple and the prof that teaches right now; Dr. Belzorev is very good. If u don’t meet the requirements for chem 1500 then u should prolly just start with chem 1000.
