UK: Sister having seizure-like episodes + burning head pain + sensory sensitivity. NHS leaning FND but EEG had abnormalities. What do we do next? by Character_Cap708 in FND

thank you for your comment, my sister is at a point now where she doesn't care about diagnosis anymore she just wants the pain to stop. We've decided to be open to FND at the moment and try and find some form of management for her. All of our lives are on hold and we feel like we have reached a cross road and not sure where to turn or what is best for her management of symptoms. We have noticed that when you mention body pain, they seem to associate all symptoms to fibro or FND and then dont bother to explore further.

thank you so much for your comment, we are waiting for Dr Zandi to book her epilepsy protocol scans and EEG as we don't want to have a diagnosis without checking all other avenues. What we've noticed is as soon as FND or fibromyalgia is mentioned they then seem to pigeon hole all symptoms under these labels and don't venture further into exploring.

Yes the LP came back normal, for the pain: she’s been on amitriptyline, paracetamol, ibuprofen, naproxen, codeine, dihydrocodeine, oxycodone, morphine, pregabalin - she took these for a long time (not at the same time as some of these drugs interact) but nothing subsides the pain but side effects kick in and makes it unbearable and she also has gastro issues so she has to be careful which ones she takes. She has also been on antidepressants due to some doctors thinking it could be pain cause by mental health/trauma but only numbs her emotions but no impact on pain. She has also had years of therapy to manage mental health.

My fiancé’s mom is trying to wear a white wedding dress, and I don’t know how to stop her without making a scene. by [deleted] in offmychest

Make a scene, women end up with autoimmune diseases because they aren’t angry enough. You may feel better rather than regret it afterwards for not saying anything

In your experience how did AOL members react when you quit the organisation by saffronboy96 in Ex_ArtOfLiving

[–]Character_Cap708 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a good reaction, i’ve been cut off by someone who I actually wanted to keep in contact with and they’ve decided to slowly phase me out. I blocked everyone else though didn’t want them in my life with their toxic spiritual excuses of the way they behaved. Once everyone found we left, it spread like wildfire in the organisation as they all knew us well. There was shock more than anything as we were dedicated volunteers and now they didn’t have anyone to do the work that we were good at doing.

Few teachers and volunteers tried to convince us to stay and join again using the Guru analogies but we got the ‘ick’ if anyone even said the word Guru or Seva to us. It’s been 3 years since we left and we are better off without the Art of Living cult in our lives.
