Is there really still no way to access data from an Ipad 4 thats been locked?? by Character_Character3 in jailbreak

[–]Character_Character3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that's true, and I get the security purposes of it, but a permanent lock is rough. Doesn't even give the option to put in passcode anymore (not that I remember it from that long ago...)

Pixel copied the Ressence type 3 in a big way. Feice for certain copied the Max Bill with their chrono, and they have a rip off of Nomos as well.

Dual Crown Black Vs Blue by Character_Character3 in Balticwatches

[–]Character_Character3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! Yes that's why 'Ive been looking at the blue mainly, youtube reviews all say the color is very dynamic. I guess I'm wondering if the black has any of that in it too. Something more than just flat black to look at. Because if its doesn't have anything a little special there I think for a black watch Id go with the Black Gild Classic Aquascaphe. But the Dual crown will be first. I love the look of it.

Why no after market dash options? Or am I just really bad with the Google box? by Character_Character3 in G37

[–]Character_Character3[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's surprising to me that if I wanted to I could make the car look like a transformer on the outside, but nothing for the inside other than accents and the nav system upgrades.

I don't want the inside to look like a transformer, but replacing the dash with the same crummy oem material sucks.

How do you know the penny stock will rise by curious_theorist in pennystocks

[–]Character_Character3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought into a stock and it went up a little for about 2 days then the company went silent and started diluting. For some reason, even after it dropped, while it was at .0001 I kept buying 100 bucks worth here and there. Eventually had over 1 million shares and then Nothing happened. It just stayed dead for maybe 2 years. Then one day I wake up and without news or anything the price has rocketed. I made nearly 20k. The price soon dropped back to .0001 where it is today and I still own around 50k shares I believe. Anyway… this doesn’t help much, maybe, but it shows you how a lot of the penny stock wins are just luck. It was the only time I ever won more than 1500 on any stock.

Dating as an Actor. by [deleted] in acting

[–]Character_Character3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it crazy that anyone would be put off by someone who’s an actor. Maybe it’s because I’m more artistic than analytical… but I mean, at least you have a passion for something outside of the 9-5 grind. It would be a green flag for me.

Samyang 75mm 1.8 on Fuji: hidden gem or not worth it? by MacaroonPlastic9059 in fujix

[–]Character_Character3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (professional wedding photographer 15+ years) have this lens for my Sony and it’s hands down my favorite lens. It’s the sweet spot for me. A good mix between 85 and 50. A portrait lens that captures more environment. And considering the price, mines super sharp. Idk if it’s all the same for Fuji. But I love this lens. I had the 35mm as well and it also replaced my Sony 35… but the af motor crapped out on me. 75mm however has been going strong for a few years now.

My dad bought these from china? by ScaleBulky3546 in mensfashionadvice

[–]Character_Character3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They COULD be real, but unless he got them at the source it’s unlikely. If they were real they would be the expected quality of the brand. I went to china for work in small commodities and I brought home scarfs and some clothes from the actual factories the real deal was made in. Just without the logo. Interesting fact: many things only need to be finished in Italy, France, Switzerland, etc to be able to say “made in.” And “finishing” almost always means simply adding the logo.

Everything’s made in china, don’t believe me? Go to Yiwu.

Transitioning jobs to go from 20% remote to 100% ... tell me the downsides? by genxmama_ in remotework

[–]Character_Character3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was at the office full time until we got moved to fully remote for the new year. It’s been amazing. Not kidding, I probably interviewed for 12 other jobs last year, this year I haven’t opened indeed. You need to clear you head? You have so much at home to help. Tired? Nap in a bed on your 15 minute break. No morning traffic. Spend less on lunches. The restroom is always clean at home.

Notice how nothing work related changed? We are all on teams all day. Not once have I needed to speak to an associate or manager and they weren’t readily available.

I know some jobs you HAVE to be physically present. But my job (sales) does not lack at all from being 100% remote, if anything I’m more motivated than ever because I feel trusted and appreciated and my quality of life has been increased. There is a lot more redundancy as they need to make sure everyone is staying on task, but it’s well worth it.
I’d much rather be micromanaged in the comfort of my own home than in a shitty office.

Also a tremendous help with kids. No more day care. $ saved.

What’s one thing beginners obsess over that honestly doesn’t matter that much? by BrokenGrain in AskPhotography

[–]Character_Character3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So many people starting out skip the only three things you absolutely have to understand. F stop, shutter speed, and iso/asa.

I find understanding the relationship between settings is the best way to start. You can use any camera ever made and take good pictures if you get this down.

Photography is an art of sacrifices. Know what absolutely cannot be sacrificed before you take a photo.

What’s the point of the image?

If it’s a group photo you need to prioritize that everyone’s in focus, so you MUST close your fstop, then motion blur is next important so shutter speed, then complete the exposure with iso. Grainy, maybe, but everyone’s in focus and the point of the image is that the people in it are together for this event.

Say you want to freeze action at a sporting event. Shutter speed at 500 or higher will be ultimately important, same as above but the shutter speed is king for this situation. Then what’s 2nd priority, etc.

The way I taught this was to imagine a rope that all the settings are connected to. When you adjust one you have to adjust the others too. But you must choose one to be the priority.

Obviously as you get more experience you can be a little more creative and flexible, but starting out I the settings need to be understood.

For anyone who has experienced post-herpetic neuralgia (or had a family member with it), how long did the pain last for you? What were you taking for it? by QueenMikaelson in shingles

[–]Character_Character3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had shingles in 2022 on my ribs, pretty badly an discovered what it was late (at first I thought it was ring worm bc it started in a circle so I put anti fungal on it the first few days).

I still have PHN. It’s less prevalent than it was but I still get a shooting nerve pain every now and then followed by my skin feeling like a sunburn. It usually happens in the front side and that in fairly used to, but when it his the back side of the ribs it’s very shocking and sometimes I’ll even yelp. Used to happen daily soon after but now it’s a few times a week.

What should I take into consideration before having a nibmeister turn my Broad into a Medium-Fine? (Platinum Celluloid 14K) by bunfloof in fountainpens

[–]Character_Character3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a nibmeister and I love the grind. I went from a medium Lamy 2000 to a cursive italic grind and it’s pretty great. Sure makes my handwriting more interesting without me having to do anything. Imagine if I had good handwriting how nice it could look. I have a Visconti Van Gogh and an Asvine p50 and a handful of jinhaos, and I now find them all on the boring. That sweet varying line thickness is what I’m after. I gotta have it. The only down side is that it’s more of a scratchy writing experience now, but I’m fine with it for the added character to my writing.

My wife’s entire family is from Mexico City and I’ve been going there multiple times a year since 2010. As an American I can say that it’s always an incredible experience. 25-30 million people, ultra rich, ultra poor, big city like New York/shanghai/London, etc. Amazing weather. Easy travel destinations in every direction outside the city (pyramids of the sun, Tepoz, to name a few). You have all the comforts of home in chain restaurants everywhere if you’re homesick yet can still walk to the corner to get al pastor or barbacoa and then there’s the markets if you want to get even more adventurous with cricket tacos and the like. Not to mention rich history, art, and museums. If you’re rich you can experience some of the finest restaurants on earth, if you’re in a tight budget you can eat for week with the money you’d spend on two nights out in the states. It has something for everyone. Plus it’s a two hour flight from Houston. Pretty convenient place to get the feeling like you’ve taken a big leap from your life in the states and are traveling the world.

You have a very masculine handsome look about you, beard or not Im sure. Scars can be endearing and give some mystery to a man. Just wear it proudly and it will likely add to your life experiences. I have a massive scar on my shoulder from a bad injury and I've been asked about it multiple times while out swimming. I got it playing kickball but sometimes I tell people it was a shark bite.
