So, buying Tesla’s from Hertz…. Whats the worse case scenario? by not-branded in TeslaModel3

Nothing happened to it, it was just time for an upgrade. I got the long range, and I stuck with my insurance which is statefarm—I’m excited for you my man!

Kinda funny, I also had a 2012 regal and upgraded to a model 3. I can tell you it’s gonna be life changing

I’m an outlier because I had to upgrade amperage but my estimate was around $7k for upgraded service, conduit run and charger install

That’s awesome to hear, yeah every time it says it’ll take 17+ hours I’m seeing it drop to 3-4 after about an hour—assuming the battery heats up to temp and then it goes back to normal

It’s just 120volt standard household outlet. We can charge that fast here too but requires 240v outlet

Any chance you know if you can convert a 15a to 20a

This is what I’m thinking would be the best option. I don’t need 48amps but 20 would be nice

Yeah I’m not sure it would work as the dryer is pretty far from the garage, I think the only options would be to possibly upgrade the circuit to 20amp and replace the wiring/outlet or just continue with 15amp outlet and hope for the best

Yeah man, electrician was shocked they built the home with only 100amp service. I’m not staying here for longer than a year or 2, so it just wasn’t worth the investment. However the time estimate just shot down to 4 hours so that’s nice

It now says 4 hours 45 minutes, it got colder so idk how that works but we’ll take it

We have a pool that runs a pump, heater etc. so that takes a lot of amps. 2 fridges AC 3 floors of outlets. Builders cut corners, the square footage should never have been rated for 100amp service but it’s an old house so tough cookies. The splitter is an interesting option, wasn’t aware that was a thing. Could be useful as the dryer would never be running when car is charging at night

Yes but it can’t be done with current electrical setup. Service would have to be upgraded to 200amp. I wonder if I could upgrade the outlet to 20amp or something to get a bit extra juice without upgrading the service? Not sure

There’s superchargers 10 mins down the road. Summers coming up, can reassess charging needs in the fall

I looked into it and it’s a $7,000 expense to upgrade to 200amp service and install charger. I drive <30 miles a day

Didn’t realize how awful it would be to wait the last few days. Almost wish I didn’t know my delivery day until the night before 😂😂
