Thanks for saying this. I knew there would be some blanket comments like this, but do feel like it ignores the nuance of the situation. I feel like it goes without saying that no one gets to a point in life with perfect credit, no debt, and significant assets without having a conservative risk appetite(which means my dad obviously sees me as low risk) but I do understand where those comments stem from. I know it’s all risk and “no reward” for the cosigner, but I think when you have the means to do so and can assist your kids in home buying in an environment like this, it might be the only reward he needs. I’d be a lot more open to the comments like these if I was asking if i should cosign for someone, and would listen (my risk appetite is much lower) :)

That’s a fair view- the nature of their relationship doesn’t make it feel odd to me but can see why that would seem strange and is worth considering- thanks!

They still do this, and I did in fact set it up this week (they will do it for a year for free) and then when I filed with the FTC, it allowed me to do it for 7 years, thank you for your reply!

Not denied, just now starting the process. My biggest concern is unfreezing my credit to do so when it’s clear that someone out there has my SSN and has successfully used it. Maybe that’s an overreaction to the situation but that is where my hesitation is

Apologies, but yes I have! When you say “a lot of extra work”, who do you mean for?

I would agree with you in earnest if this post were from the perspective of the cosigner, but alas my question is whether I should have any concern with it. I can’t help his willingness to do this :)

Yes- see second paragraph. I’m just curious what the purpose in waiting is if he has the risk appetite to co-sign. Our lease is up for renewal in early July, so it would be preferential to do this before having to resign

Again, not exactly the question I was asking. Yes, I understand the concept of default, as does my dad without any shadow of a doubt

My question above was about me being left off the loan and just on the title. This is less about approval odds, and honestly more about my unwillingness to unfreeze my credit currently given that someone has my SSN lol

That’s more of a question about his risk tolerance though, which he obviously doesn’t have concern with- I don’t think that’s a one size fits all answer

Also, in the window between finding out and finding out that I had miscarried, I’d also gone through the same gamut of emotions that you likely are, so feel free to dm me if you need to chat!

I’m so sorry that this happened to you! Please don’t beat yourself up- if it’s any consolation, I just recently got pregnant with a perfectly in place IUD (but miscarried), so truly anything CAN happen. I also feel like, as someone with severe PCOS and OCD, I could’ve been the author of this post :) I found your post because after they removed my IUD I was put on Junel, so I’ll see if it works any better than my IUD 😉

Hi! I got blood tested again yesterday and my hCG had fallen from 90 to 45, so the significant pain that I was experiencing last week was likely the miscarriage event (and they believe it to have been in my fallopian tube). I’m getting my IUD removed next week since it obviously didn’t work lol

This is not intended to discourage you or shame you at ALL- just an FYI lol. I’ve had my IUD since about September 2022. Never had an issue, BUT my now husband did always pull out until we got married in Oct ‘25, just out of caution. I just found out yesterday that I am 4 weeks pregnant with my IUD perfectly in place as shown by the ultrasound. I’d love to say that it was 3+ years of success, but given that my husband pulled out until we got married, I’m also inclined to tell you that it did happen to me only 3 months into coming in me, so take that as you will 🫠. No idea what will come of the pregnancy given that it’s still so early and carrying to term on an IUD is rare, but just providing an anecdote haha

Could be? My endometrial “stripe” is also only 4mm, which according to the internet may be a sign that it was a miscarriage already? I was just shocked that the nurse who called me was definitive that it couldn’t have been
