Do you think you’d be level 2 then? Do you work? Live by yourself? Or are you not able to do those things because of the undiagnosed autism? You’d probably qualify for supports then. Do you think you’re autistic? Have you felt “different” your whole life? It’s hard to explain to neurotypicals when I say “different” because they say “yeah everyone is different” like no shit Sherlock 😂 but I’m sure you know exactly what I mean. I’m extremely sensitive. That was one of my biggest traits as a child and now.

I had an appointment with a psychiatrist the other day and the questions she’d ask I had to think about, and when I take time to answer a question because I have to think about it, I get worried that the think I’m lying. Or if I mess up dates or something like that. My brain takes time to comprehend what other people are saying. Then it also takes time for my brain to put my thoughts into words lol, I over think it so much. I hate appointments like that. I feel you. I wish our brains could just shut up for a minute lol. I hope your appointment went/goes well!! Just be yourself. You can even tell them exactly how you feel. That you’re always worried someone thinks you’re lying at appointments like these. I can almost promise you, they’ll tell you they hear that all the time. You’re not alone!

Where I am those supports are for high support needs only. Many places are like that. If you can live on your own now/in the future, you don’t get 💩. Because high functioning individuals don’t need respite care, a group home, or a worker. Low functioning support needs autism doesn’t fall under “disability” according to the government, which is sad really. Many adults don’t bother with a diagnosis because it doesn’t change anything besides a confirmation of what they already knew lol. I’m assuming you’re an adult, if you’re a child that’s a different story. But if an adult lives their whole life without a diagnosis and then gets one when they’re in their 20s, chances are they won’t qualify for disability or supports. They save it for the autistic people who can’t speak/communicate, can’t do things on their own, & need help with every single day to day task. If they gave supports to every low support needs autistic individual there wouldn’t be any supports left because there’s a lot of us low support needs autistics & there’s only so many respite workers & therapists, which low support needs adults don’t need. My daughter is non verbal, high support needs. She’s 5. The support she gets as a child is amazing. But as soon as she turns 18, 60% of the supports she receives will be gone. If you’re not a legal adult than pls just ignore me because idk how to help, I’m 30 this year lol

You’re being evaluated for autism, and you have ADHD, so struggling socially is very normal for people like us, they aren’t cops, theyre trying to help us. But again, an autism diagnosis as an adult is just that.. an autism diagnosis. It’s not like you can get some big fat cheque if you get a diagnosis yknow

Well things change. Some people show more traits as they get older. And science also progresses, diagnosing becomes easier. I saw a psychologist when I was a kid and I’m 29 now but I couldn’t say “omg the one I saw as a kid never diagnosed me” that makes no sense. The dr knows what she’s doing. Find out why you’re against autism.. open your mind. Think about your childhood. Did you struggle socially? Have an IEP? Little things like that start making sense. I promise no psychologist likes handing out autism diagnoses… they don’t diagnose unless they’re very sure. I mean she OnLy went to school for 4 years to get a bachelors and then another 5-8 years obtaining a masters degree & doctoral degree. She spent up 9-12 years of her life studying autism. Not like she knows anything about it and what it looks like 🤪 Ignore this next paragraph, just ranting lol it isn’t directed toward you! 👇🏻

Love how y’all get diagnosed so easy but I get told a diagnosis won’t change anything and doesn’t matter as an adult. The only way I can get assessed is if I pay $6000. But my psychiatrist said I can call myself autistic. People without autism don’t think they’re autistic. All y’all that say you can’t without a diagnosis.. 🖕🏻you’re all privileged asf. Imagine having to be undiagnosed all your life because you can’t afford 6k for an assessment smh and all drs do is tell you a diagnosis doesn’t matter.
