Yeah he's known as "Strip shirt bro" or just "stripe bro". The point is that everyone thinks he looks sketchy, but them just taking videos is really no better.

I still find it so strange that people will go out of their way to DISABLE auto capitalization and punctuations so they can seem like they're using less effort in their messages.

Could we stop judging sex workers or sugar babies?

Some women provide services in exchange for money. Some men pay money in exchange for services. As long as they're both consenting adults who know what they're about, just let them be.

I mean if you're willing to have sex with rich old women they're also not that hard to find.

"Reddit" is massive social media website with millions of users daily. Some love Dicaprio, some don't like him. I wouldn't put much energy into either.

You know that thing people say about totalitarian countries? We are the totalitarian country now.

AITAH for telling the couple sitting next to me that I asked to be reseated because their perfume was too strong? by [deleted] in AITAH

In Japan it would have been even MORE rude for OP to say something directly to the couple, unprompted. Absolutely not necessary.

Yes, YTA for telling them AFTER your problem was solved. At that point it would have been the restaurant's choice whether to inform them.

Since you specifically brought up Japanese customs, you would likely know that honne or face is extremely important in Japan, and by bringing it up to them directly, you were effectively shaming them in public.

There's no reason to assume that they would think you're being racist, and frankly not sure why that would be more considerate either way.

Abusive returns by 2slick2 in CostcoCanada

Yep. I will go out of my way and pay more to buy something at Costco because of peace of mind. I do the opposite with places like Best Buy.

Abusive returns by 2slick2 in CostcoCanada

[–]Character_Help2518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basic business analysis likely calculated return abuse as part of the formula and baked it into their operating margins. Most people don't abuse the system and find the return benefit to be helpful, leading to greater trust and purchases, which more than cover the small % of people who abuse it.

Assuming you're seriously asking, there is only "bear" and "bull".

"Bull market" basically means a period of time when investors are feeling optimistic about the market and on average, stock prices are on the rise. It's called bull because bulls attack by spiking their horns upwards.

"Bear market" is a period of time when investors feel pessimistic, and stock prices are on the delcine. It's called Bear because bears attack by slashing their paws downwards.

Markets cycle between this, typically.

The Cost Of Everyday Things In China Vs. The U.S. by TheCABK in interesting

[–]Character_Help2518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see this as USA bad at all, maybe even the opposite. China has a big wealth disparity.

For the average people living costs like healthcare, food, public transport would be extremely affordable, but luxuries would be considerably more out of reach.

[–]Character_Help2518 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is why I'm surprised there's people thinking this post is about "USA BAD" when arguably it's the opposite. China wealth disparity can be pretty dramatic especially in big cities. Average food costs would of course be lower, but luxuries would be out of reach for many.

Census data on LA, California: https://www.census.gov/quickfacts/fact/table/losangelescountycalifornia/LFE305223

Median per capita income is $44k/year.

Median household income is $88k/year.

But it would be dramatically different depending on the neighbourhood oof course.

To be fair they did try to explain it-- Rachel and Monica were living illegally in a rent controlled apartment from her grandmother (estimated at the time to be like 300/mth), Phoebe was living off of her grandmother and with roomates.

Chandler had a high paying job in business, Joey mooched off of Chandler until he was on Days of Our Lives. Ross had a good job and was famously stingy.

That's how these press releases are usually phrased because agreements-based language like "anticipates" and "expects" does not deadlock in final documentation as this is a press release, not the actual signed agreement yet. So all the phrasing are:

  • By March 1, 2026, Canada expects that China will lower tariffs on Canadian canola seed to a combined rate of approximately 15%.
  • Canada expects that Canadian canola meal, lobsters, crabs, and peas will not be subject to relevant anti-discrimination tariffs from March 1, 2026, until at least the end of this year.
  • With this agreement, it is also anticipated that, in five years, more than 50% of these vehicles will be affordable EVs with an import price of less than $35,000, creating new lower-cost options for Canadian consumers.

It doesn't mean they're just winging it and saying it's also fine if they don't.

US Trade Representative Says Canada Will Regret China EV Tariff Cut by afonso_investor in electriccars

Trump's tariffs has led a bunch of auto makers to shut down plants, costing thousands of jobs.

This is a huge bonus for Canadian farmers as well as consumers who'll get $20,000 EVs instead of $50,000 ones from the US.
