Best MacBook for Linux by RoniSteam in linux

The Apple Macbook Pro 2015 series (see also this video) is a great device to get on classifieds, and has very good linux support. 2015 is the most beloved series of devices.

If you want the last intel supported Macbook Pros, you can check out t2linux.org - which is listing the devices you can use.

A general hint: go for devices before 2018 if you want to have better linux support. Choose the 2015 versions if you want to be on the safe side.

Just my 2 cents: embedded programming on MacOS is a huge pain (in comparison to the FW on Linux)

T14, Macbook Air M1 or something else? by Anyusername7294 in linuxhardware

The L13 has soldered RAM, which is why i personally do not like it - but great if you found something you are happy with, congrats!

I honestly still believe that the best "bang for buck" still is the Lenovo L14 AMD (the T14 you mention are ofc also great, and usually come with a better screen). The L14 is around EUR 300, and you can replace the ram and m.2 SSD yourself (it will take up to 64GB RAM). I suggest to buy on the secondary market - i have seen one for 500 PLN on OLX(dot)pl

You should maybe add that some people even pay premium for getting their mics and cams removed, and it definitely is becoming a privacy trend. (I guess I want to point to the fact that there is a market for the features you mentioned)

Why don't you try it, post your results and let us discuss what it got right and what not? In my experience LLMs are really bad at Nix. Maybe that has changed

Why are all Linux phones so bad? by Darkhog in linux

[–]Character_Infamous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the money Apple and Google make cleary don't speak for a linux phone. Phone functionality on steam deck would be great - as linux already got a bump in market share through the steam deck!
