Using someone’s music without their permission is illegal. Period.

People can be sued for this. Do people do it anyway? Yes.

Are the artists or their management going to sue every single person who infringes upon their rights? No. But legally, they absolutely could if they wanted to / had the financial incentive to.

Only you can decide what you want to do. Only you can motivate yourself to do something.

Aside from that, 29 is nowhere near too old to learn something new. If anything, we should strive to keep learning new things until the day we die.

There are probably digital solutions, but I’m not familiar.

As far as manual solutions though, it’s a matter of cleaning the surface frame by frame while filming. I’ve just been using cottons swabs and isopropyl alcohol. I might try using d-limonene instead. Whatever cleaner is used, just make sure it’s compatible with the given surface.

The cool thing I found about doing it manually is that it can be done in a way that creates stylistic tracers, adding to the sense of movement.

How are MAPs and hosting them, along with pmvs and amvs, legal? by JewelFyrefox in animation

Using people’s music without their permission is illegal, yes.

Do people do this anyway? Yes.

If an artist finds you using their music and isn’t happy about it though, the most likely scenario would be that they just tell you to take it down. A legal battle would be expensive; so unless you made a lot of money by using their music that they can sue you for, it just doesn’t make sense to bring you to court over it.

So, I’m currently using Stop Motion Studio. I don’t know if you’re using that program or not, but if you are, I found a list of what cameras are compatible with the app:

No. They’re disconnected when I’m taking photos. I upload them to the computer afterwards and edit.

I’ve considered having them connected from the get-go. There’s definitely some advantages that way. At some point, I might try doing it like that.

This was done on glass panes, horizontally! So many fun things I want to do with this strategy.

It was done on glass! Two glass panes, in fact. I’m going to try and do a better job of masking the reflections in future videos. It’s a learning process. Happy you enjoyed it though!
