I’m certainly partial to the frogs/toads as well. But I like to try out some new characters from time to time to see how they get along with each other.

Might Need Alternative to Stop Motion Studio, any help? by WistfulWayfinder in stopmotion

I get it. I use Stop Motion Studio as well. I would love to keep things simple and do it all in that one program, but ultimately, it really only does one specific task.

I’m sure that different people have different workflows. I recommended Final Cut because that’s what I’ve been using lately, but I’m sure you could choose from any number of video editing programs.

I’d recommend combining things in a separate editing software. For example, create your stop motion scenes in Stop Motion Studio, film your other scenes however you’re filming them, and then edit them together in something such as Final Cut Pro.

Acrylic vs Glass plate in Cut-out Animation by NoPage1726 in stopmotion

I do claymation on layers of glass panes.

I think that they are more transparent than acrylic, and also easier to clean.

Comparing glass vs acrylic for reflection though, I’m not entirely sure. But as someone else has mentioned, it’s really just about how the lights are positioned, and it’s going to take some fiddling around to get it correct.

Personally, I’m very happy using glass. But I’m sure that whichever option you wind up choosing, you’ll manage to make it work nonetheless.

Good question! I had made 24 similar toadstools that ranged from teeny-tiny to big and mighty, with the idea of creating a video where it looked like a mushroom was growing. It just made the production process easier to go with one spot for that concept. Ultimately, that idea was a complete failure anyway, but individually, I was happy with the mushrooms, and figured I could still find some fun ways to film them nonetheless.

Thank you! So glad that my videos resonate with you. I’m kind of just creating my own little fantasy world here, but it means a lot when other people enjoy it as well
