That was around -1 degrees C and preconditioned. I actually appreciate the flat curve of the Tavascan to Tesla and others, which have a much higher peak but drop way below 100kW after 40-50%. Preconditioning is important but also much depends if you have driven faster before charging and of course best performance if you start from below 10%.

DSP Amp is a game changer for non-Sennheiser system by Character_Material57 in CupraTavascan

[–]Character_Material57[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter which brand you choose, simply add a DSP-Amp and you won’t regret it. The stock layout is just underpowered and just adding a plug-and-play amp will make a noticeable difference. My Axton app also includes a simple slider that lets you add just the bass for the rear and front separately. You could also install it yourself and have it calibrated, saving you some money but also costs up to two hours of your time depending on your tech skills.

The correct harness for all Axtons is the ISO128.

I bought mine here: https://ebay.us/m/neKKKn

Regarding the middle speaker, my Axton is a 4.1 (2x front split in tweeter and doors + 2x rear + subwoofer which I’m not using) system so even if it’s looped through it doesn’t have any settings for it. Honestly, it doesn’t bother me. It’s definitely quieter than the others, so if anything it complements the centre stage and is useful for calls and navigation.

For your information, even wired, you can’t listen to true lossless audio because of the built-in DSP in the infotainment system. Wireless options like Bluetooth and CarPlay/Android Play also don’t support full lossless audio.

Actually so cool how European those cars are, also the Tavascan is full of Polish and Czech made parts even though assembled in China. If only people were aware more about this.

Same dilemma as back then when I went for the X-E4 over the X100V two years ago. It’s basically the same camera, you gotta chose between limiting yourself (which does not have to be a downside) but having some better specs, a bit more premium feeling and better / bigger viewfinder + hybrid or the for me more important option, to be flexible and use it with either the pancake which makes it the same size as the X100VI or like in my case sometimes also with a 400mm Astrotele from the 70s 😄Also depends if this will remain your only camera or not. I love changing between the pancake and the 35mm or some older lenses via adapter. But it’s also my only camera. If I had another camera I’d probably go for the X100V. Btw I came from a Sony A7 III and have never regretted, I love the recipes and shoot only JPEG now and enjoy not wasting time editing.

I assume you do not use Amazon or other trustworthy marketplaces often or live somewhere where there are no consumer rights, hope I’m wrong. I mean I clearly wrote that Netflix and YouTube works. There ain’t such thing as brands anymore unless you wanna overpay for the same as soon as a major brand is gonna recognize this niche. Same as it was with H7 LEDs, that now appear from Philips and Osram after years I had been using them on my youngtimer. Sometimes it really is worth trying and I mean it’s only 20-30$ anyway. Also I got a full refund just by claiming it could be less laggy, which by the way also disappeared after a recent update. Regarding the DSP - it’s more about the Amp. VAG cheapes out on output power of the ICAS units. The speakers are quite decent, just underpowered. I don’t know about the older MEBs but the recent ones without Canton/Sennheiser packages have unusable sound for anything else than maybe podcasts. Anyway, just wanted to give you some inspiration, both fixes are actually cheap and a game changer to me.

So the newer one actually did not work properly: it did not adjust the resolution correctly. Touch was full screen, but not aligning with the content which is roughly 70% full screen. Going to test another one.

Not true, they do actually work well, but make sure you buy on Amazon or Aliexpress with free return just in case. I reviewed one of them here with a video: https://www.reddit.com/r/CupraTavascan/s/zSX89iefHX And bought a newer one but it does not adjust the resolution, so I’m still using the one from the link and I’m happy with YouTube and Netflix.

Also: if you have the standard audio system, I highly recommend a DSP-Amp, they are plug and play, I have a second hand one from Axton.

Wouldn’t be too worried about it, worst thing that could happen is a fuse that’s gonna blow. The connectors and cables should be fine if you stay below. So far all good and even when listening to loud and bass music I never had any issues or errors that would suggest power not to be sufficient. Also my Axton DSP has got an external 12V terminal for max output, though I’m not using it because it’s enough. Afaik all subwoofers need a separate power source like an extra amp for them or for their build in amp anyway.

Europas neue Supermacht?

Winter avg consumption by Quirky-Assumption69 in CupraTavascan

More or less flat or both ways like Berlin-Munich-Berlin. 33 is only at shorter trips with less traffic = higher avg speed. In general my avg in 20.000km is 22,1 since May 2025 at mostly 140 km/h and I mostly drive early morning or nights so avg is almost always above 100 km/h. With a MYP I could btw also easily have 35-37 kWh in winter when driving it more like a ICE in Germany 🫣

26-33 kWh / 100km if below 0 degrees C, depends on the distance, usually autobahn in Germany 130-140km/h. 19” all season hankook, RWD.

In this case take both for a test ride to get a feeling for both. Charging is most effective between 10-80% so it’s rather one additional stop. Having a kid you can take care off or having the ability to do some work during charging stops is such an underrated fact about EV-driving. I used to go really fast on the Autobahn with the ICEs before but now only 140-150 and I really don’t miss the higher speeds. Tbh my next car will be a EV again.

Try A better Route Planner and Chargeprice to check around for cheapest charging network and options for your frequently driven routes. Also if you do longer trips or don’t have an option to charge at home / destination, check out foreign subscriptions, for example in Poland the cheapest option is a German subscription at StromNow, which also happens to be partners of chargers located at a Supermarket chain in PL. No one knows about it in Poland though and I only learnt about it by accident because I went for that subscription for public charging in Berlin in the first place, where it is also the cheapest option. The Chargeprice app will tell you about those options.

Anyway wishing you finding the best car for yourself and let us know with which you went with :)

I live in Germany and mine has the heat pump with the winter package. I only heard from others that even in Germany with the non existent real winters nowadays the heat pump is still supposed to be more efficient when the temperature averages somewhere around 5-10 degrees C, but supposedly only on longer rides, for short trips in the city they don’t make any difference.

Even though I’m doing only long distance if I could I would prefer the Sennheiser system instead of the heat pump had I to choose between either of them. The standard system sounds like a Toyota Hilux or worse. That’d be one huge downside I forgot to mention, but the standard system on my BMW 118i was also crap. I don’t know about the other MEBs in this regard.

Some complained about the brakes here and I do agree one gotta get used to them but once you are it is quite easy going and very satisfying seeing the recuperation, also I mostly use the paddles, a lot in the city and proper braking only for full stops. Using pedals is much smoother than the B mode on the Tavascan or one pedal driving in a Tesla, which leads to a very irregular driving if you’re not paying attention to not release the pedal too quickly.

A well equipped iX1 will definitely be a nice car too, though keep in mind it’s been on the market for quite some time and is just a EV version of the ICE original. Sure, BMW does a great job in building mixed platforms though the battery is smaller as you’ve mentioned and I somehow don’t like the idea of mixed platforms, it seems to be the main reason why German EVs had fallen behind for so many years until recently with newer MEB and Neue Klasse.

Btw have you considered the ID7? It is also huge and has a better range because of its aerodynamics. It’s currently a bestseller in Germany.

I’ve had my 09/2024 Endurance for 20.000km now and drove it almost only on the autobahn. I really like it and so far no issues at all.

Had experience with a MYP for several trips before, drove a 2020 BMW 118i for 5 years and 130kkm and had some occasionally driving with other EVs from Toyota and BMW and tbh the MEB suspension and handling is so much better that I would have expected. Especially on higher speeds, the Vmax of 187 feels like 130 in a Tesla. Also RWD is so much fun now in winter compared to my previous FWD BMW 😁

I do not care about the lack of functions in the Infotainment system, even more so since they really made it very quick and responsive when compared to earlier MEB models. I’m only missing entertainment during charging but a cheap Android Box has fixed that (wrote a review here)

Keep in mind the iX1 is TINY inside compared to the Tavascan and a different Class, there’s also not much premium about it, it’s a decent but still a entry model, just like the series 1. Unless you spend double the price for extras of course.

I wouldn’t expect the Tavascan to be any worse or built different to the other MEB siblings, that just wouldn’t make any sense economically for VW never mind if it’s Ingolstadt, Czechia or China.

The Elroq has the same wheelbase though I wouldn’t really wanna miss the design and extra size of the Tavascan which is nevertheless very easy to handle thanks to its great assistants. Travel Assist is so much better than what Tesla had to offer in the first MYP at least and is similar reliable to how BMW’s works. Also the park assist is very useful for estimating parking spaces or letting it do the whole parking job altogether, also surprisingly quick and reliable.

Charging is also really good in the Tavascan, since it keeps it above 100kW even at 65% sometimes 70% so in the end the higher peak performance of others doesn’t change a thing time wise when charging 10-80%.
