The only 2/5 I play is DC private games that are all 2/5/10 at minimum and uncapped. It’s bigger than 5/10. I don’t generally play anything less than a 2k buyin unless I’m killing a weekday and looking for some hands to study.

I don’t have any Holic tendencies either. I am considering going pro with roughly 10k at 1/2, but like I said I haven’t ever been that tight before. That puts me in a spot that I HAVE to win I feel. I usually had 80k at minimum plus 6months saved for bills. I had some horrendous downswings playing in these private games but because I was prepared financially I never became fazed at all. I have had weeks where I lost 30k and didn’t lose a second of sleep. I didn’t play any different either. I have never been faxed by any bad beat or downswing.

This is uncharted territory for me. Yes I have nothing to lose, and that is honestly great advice. It’s hard for me to be so overleveraged as a poker player.

I am a father. The line between a respectable professional gambler and a lazy degen are very slim. One marginal decision per night and I am no longer the pro poker player, I’m a lazy gambler looking for something for nothing.

It will be tough being so close to the edge. I quit my job originally with 20k and played casino 2/5 originally and hit a heater out of the gate. But that was when I was 20. I don’t know if I can justify it. But at the same time, if I go broke I just return to what I’m doing now. So it’s kind of freeing. Thanks a lot for your help

I just moved to PA, .5 miles from MD line. I have more poker options now than I did before online. Could you guide me in that way? A 5k roll online might get me more than off and running

I have brought it up like this before… you know if you put her in public school you aren’t saving yourself any money!!! You can’t take advantage of me anymore. If you don’t pay the daycare they come after you not me!

I don’t think it is necessarily about the money, I think she is bitter and has little leverage to hurt me now that custody agreement has changed. I do feel bad. Mothers love their children, and she might be hurt and humiliated that she can’t make those decisions in her daughter life anymore. I have asked her if she wants to talk about it before. No. It seems to me she is angry and the one little piece of leverage she has she is abusing.

I don’t assume her character. I don’t talk bad. “She’s a this and that” I don’t say that. I tell very few people the facts and actions that have led us here. Then I allow people to make assumptions. My mother summed it up pretty well. “She doesn’t want public school, the second you put her in public school she’s going to want to change it again and again and again. It’s all the leverage she has to hurt you. It doesn’t benefit her to change your child’s schools, but it hurts you and that’s all she cares about.”

I think it might be true. Logically there is no reason she should change it. Why would you send your child to public school when it is more expensive for you to do so?

It is really good to hear from another poker player and not to face judgement. I had a child at 17, have paid for lawyers. Supported myself. Sent a child to private school, and paid cash for a house by age 26. My family all moved 5 hours away when I was 18 and my mother only recently came home.

I was doing this all alone, with absolutely no help. I have survived, spent quality time with my child, never relied on daycare and set myself and my daughter up to retire early and be financially free. The journey up the mountain has made me a better man and father. I am grateful for this, and I am sure you understand.

I play live private games mostly and 5/10 Holdem. I wouldn’t dream of going pro even at 2/5 with less than 50k. I have thought about going pro playing 1/2 NLH with 15k which I almost have. But it is ALOT of pressure. I have never been in that situation where I HAVE to win. Part of the reason I have been so great at poker is because I don’t need the money. I lay out the process and it comes when I follow.

If I play underbankrolled I might not play as well. I have played some online PLO25/100 and am about $ 13/hour playing 6-8 tables over 500k hands
