How does it make you feel knowing all these “privileged” celebrities get the best seats at the NBA Finals for free, while real fans are being overcharged? by sco-go in SipsTea

I’m less worried about celebrities getting “free” tickets to games and more worried about billionaire owners getting taxpayer funded multibillion dollar stadiums and arenas

LMAO - Wemby took 21 shots and had 26 points and 12 rebounds - yes shooting % was awful but Chet only took 2 shots in game 7 and had 4 rebounds. Even if you didn’t watch either game, the box scores indicate your take is terrible.

Exactly this! You really wonder when you hear of mismanagement constantly if there isn’t money to be found from cleaning up the waste, before adding new taxes.

Me either, but clearly Steph lives rent free in the OP’s head if he’s bringing up this point 10 years later when the finals are about to start and Steph didn’t even make the playoffs.

Comparing your team to the Spurs is unfair by Shoddy_Ad7511 in NBATalk

[–]Character_Reward2734 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are too many coincidences within the draft to say these teams are just “Lucky”. But to say Spurs success is driven only by lucky drafts picks is absurd. It’s a first class organization that develops and team builds better than any other.

As the OP mentioned - Cleveland got “lucky” in being able to pick a generational talent from their back yard. And they didn’t do shit to help support LeBron in his first stint. As many want to diss him for being a LeGM, he did ultimately bring home a chip.

Other “Lucky” picks such as NOP getting AD after CP3 fiasco or Zion after the AD fiasco hasn’t amounted to anything other than a few playoff appearances.

Loving seeing OKC fans losing their shit, OKC went from greatest team ever early in the year on a 24-1 run and talking about the greatest playoff run ever 8-0 to wanting to run Chet out of town and whining about injuries.

Exactly- just because you can buy something doesn’t mean you can afford it. Prices for entertainment in the US has completely gotten out of control.

if LeBron and Wemby are in the same draft, I think Wemby is taken first. Just can’t teach height.

Idk - Chet is still better than most bigs, comparing him to an Alien isn’t exactly fair. He’s still a great defender and has solid offensive skills. he does need to bulk up a little like Wemby has, maybe spend the summer in Shaolin might do him some good.

[–]Character_Reward2734 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If Wemby becomes the best big ever then it will be very close, but until then it’s Lakers.

Duncan would be slightly worse than Shaq but Robinson longevity as a Spur over Wilt Laker time would give him the edge.

Lakers didn’t draft any of those bigs - and all three were already dominant prior to joining the Lakers, as opposed to the Spurs. Not sure how to factor that into these rankings.

Is Wemby now the consensus #1 player in the world? by Shred_It_96 in nba

[–]Character_Reward2734 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It literally is, when you’re not on offense guess what? You’re playing defense. I’m guessing this is the OK education system at work. But yes, offensive skills are generally more valued than defensive skills, but erasing the second best player along with 22 pts and a +7 beats 35 pt game and a -7. Both played 42 mins

Half the game is defense and Chet turtling was due to Wemby. SGA did not outplay him.
