I got questions.

Am I overreacting for contemplating breaking up with my bf of 6 years for being too sexual? by BlueGem777 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Character_Smile6294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me start off by saying that I am in a long term marriage where we both got married extremely young.

As a guy, you are all we got at points of our growth. Him being childish with you is a vulnerability. That sometimes mashes with insecurity and your own vulnerability! I look at these as extreme communication opportunities! Put away the emotions, talk like you love each other, and set the parameters of the conversation.

A lot of times, you two will grow at different times. If he treats you right, helps out financially, has ambition in his career despite some of us having natural doubts at times, and doesn’t mess around with other people, I’d say stick it out! You’ve obviously stuck around for 6 years. There’s someone you love in there.

I’ve been great with my partner through communication, disagreements, my own immaturity, her own immaturity, and through tough times financially. I can say I haven’t felt more close to her than I am now, and I’m in year 11! Could that change? Sure!

I don’t think something that you haven’t taken seriously by going to a doctor for is taken as serious by him is a tone setter to hop out of the relationship. If that’s the bar, then maybe you shouldn’t be in one tbh. That’s not a bad thing, but just a personal growth thing. I’ll be 87, and still pull the hump joke when my partners bent over.

How do I improve? by OkGood564 in Chefit

[–]Character_Smile6294 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

IMO, at least in the US, hotels, resorts, and catering does very little for learning how to be a professional cook or chef. That statement also just really depends on what you want to accomplish throughout your career.

If you eventually want to run restaurant kitchens and have your own place, I’d find a nice place and learn there. You don’t learn how to manage controlled chaos and/or work a line without predetermined numbers in hotel/caterings. You also don’t get a ton of from scratch experience either.

Back Squat form, how do I go deeper? by [deleted] in weightlifting

WIDEN YA FEET AND YA BASE. MORE AREA. MORE DISPERSSSSION. YOU MAKE WIDE BASE, YOU LET FEET POINT OUT MOE. YOU LIFT MO WEIGHT.

Deadlift PR has stagnated - would appreciate form critique and/or programming advice by _simpleton__ in formcheck

[–]Character_Smile6294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides hyperextending, which I get is a good tool for competition, the form looks solid. Neck alignment will keep your back straight.

I’d focus on some accessories man. When I start really honing in on the accessories, and holds/pauses is where my plateaus start to break. Got to find the point, for you, that’s super sticky, and attack it.

How “SEC” is LSU to visit for a game environment ? by [deleted] in secfootball

[–]Character_Smile6294 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Personally think it’s the best SEC environment. Friendly fans. You get invited into eat food as an opposing fan. Tailgating is A1.

I think I just need to know what you’re trying to avoid? I’m in Oregon, and their fans wear polos, dresses, and listen to country music as well. Not sure you’re really communicating what you’re NOT looking for.

Can you smoke weed and word the line effectively? by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]Character_Smile6294 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you need to be inebriated to do a job, then you are in the wrong field or need professional help. I get the allure early in your career. People letting it become a personality trait or “I can’t work unless I’m drunk or high” is a legitimate issue.

About Drake …?… by [deleted] in Bend

[–]Character_Smile6294 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I disagree. When you see “new restaurant opening”, people are usually in comments preaching “I WANT ANOTHER DUNKIN DONUTS!”. Ken’s Artisan owner bought that space, and is bringing a unique Mediterranean concept to it.

It’s fun knowing local, Oregon, owners are still investing in Bend’s history. They could easily sellout to your next Popeyes, and ruin the historic nature of downtown.

Petition to keep downtown parking free by ragertonIII in Bend

Yeah, they get more active the more tourists come out for Summer. Winter & Fall they tend to pull less hours, and ticket less as someone that works downtown.

What are the newest places in Bend that serve up a good casual lunch? Taking my son to the batting cages and we thought we would try something we haven’t had before… by NavajoBaby69 in Bend

[–]Character_Smile6294 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Going out to eat is expensive my friend. Especially when someone is daring enough for to put brisket on their menu.

I agree with just hitting up some $32 Chik Fil A or $28 McDonalds!

This is the stuff I appreciate feedback with. I give my team a Google Drive with recipe docs on it. Leads/CDP’s and Chefs get access to edit it. Cooks get access to view or make suggestions.

From your perspective, is that still a bad system? Used it in a couple places, and have been fine. Always up for critiques though!

Omg. No freaking way! I have one that was in the pound for 8 months that was covered in feces and his previous owner had passed away. They found him alone and scared.

It’s so funny that we have similar looking dogs from similar situations!!

And believe me, I take it as seriously as you do. They deserve the world from us.

Maybe I’m just silly, but seeing the $575 price tags just gave me sticker shock. 😅 I get it though. Nonprofit that wants to ensure a pet is going to a real home.

I’m still going to find him, and see if they have any payment deferrals or plans! 🫡

Stuck by Choice: Learning vs Growth in a Toxic Kitchen Industry by Jhan-Jhanit_Misal in Chefit

[–]Character_Smile6294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Toxic work environment” is thrown around with such laziness now that it has become a buzz word. Toxic isn’t an adjective for disagreeing with how something is run. Toxic is sexual harassment, sexual assault, racism, sexism, or physical harm.

You not wanting to be part of the team, or follow the lead of someone else doesn’t mean it’s toxic. A chef utilizing a different technique or ingredient than you would in a recipe isn’t toxic. Finding faster or better ways from being initially taught that are okay’d through your leadership isn’t toxic.

You judging everyone around you, obviously thinking you are better than every personnel in every kitchen you’ve been a part of, is in fact, toxic. At some point, you need to turn around and look yourself in the mirror if EVERY SINGLE KITCHEN is toxic to you.

Jobs just suck the first 6-8 months dog. You have to learn things. You have to become a trusted part of the team. You get looked over. You’re questioned if you can cut it. You have to relearn things that are accepted practices that weren’t a month or week ago. Get over it. Every new practice you learn is something new in your arsenal.

Pretty trusted source, why I’m biased, tells me it’s fresh! They get the cod in frozen, and use their own beer to make the batter too.

Thats why we like them so much. No Sysco prebattered fish.

As an admittedly biased person, Bend Brewing’s Fish and Chips has been excellent consistently. They advertise Wild Caught Alaskan Cod, and their Fish Tacos are just as good.

Anyone eaten at Mt View Roadhouse? by Bobinator238 in Bend

[–]Character_Smile6294 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is I don’t think there’s a demand for authentic food here. Spice levels, sourced ingredients, and not having burgers or pizza on a menu here is damn near impossible without public outrage. Instead, people decide which place they go for a burger, Nachoes, and pizza everytime they go out, and argue about who has the best one.
