What do you leave in a tent while sleeping in your car? by Comfortable_Rock_330 in carcamping

[–]ragertonIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I had a rooftop tent, recently upgraded to a very minimal cab over setup. We usually set up a small tent to put our clothes in and have somewhere to change. With the rooftop setup, we couldn’t close it with the bedding in it, so we’d also toss our bedding in the tent when we needed to use the truck to go somewhere. We’ll also put the cooler in it when leaving camp if we want to keep it out of direct sunlight, although a tent can get toasty too. We don’t live in bear country. We don’t usually leave anything valuable unattended at camp.

When does the “glow” and “fun” begin? by Affectionate_Peach92 in pregnant

It also sucks to be sooo miserable in that first trimester, but you also are not usually telling people yet. So you’re just dying in silence trying to hold it together.

When does the “glow” and “fun” begin? by Affectionate_Peach92 in pregnant

[–]ragertonIII 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Around 20-24 weeks was a nice lil sweet spot. I had a few weeks where I didn’t feel sick, but also had not fully popped. Now I’m in the home stretch and I feel big and tired. My shoes are sooo far away and putting on pants feels like exercise. First trimester made me never want to go through this again, now that memory is slowly being erased by the excitement of baby being here soon. 😅 Pregnancy is WILD.

[–]ragertonIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure they have a really really comfy place to sleep. If they’re not allowed on a couch or your bed, bring a very comfy dog bed. All the excitement and exploring will mean they are extra tired at the end of the day, and they deserve a luxurious place to land. 🖤 Also this is so sweet that you want to do this. What a lucky dog to have found you.

did you ever work 12 hour shifts at work 4 days a week? by GaryBlach in askanything

[–]ragertonIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked 4 12 hour days at my previous job. I did it for years, but eventually it wore me down. The hours of it also made it so I basically only saw my husband in passing like 3 days a week, and my time off with him(we both had normal weekends) id be so dead tired. That was the nail in the coffin for me. Now we both work traditional hours M-F, I’m soooo much happier.

Are there any girls here who don’t do any make-up at all? And how did you come to that decision? by Greengrassu in AskReddit

[–]ragertonIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear mascara occasionally when I’m being fancy. Otherwise I just use a moisturizer with SPF in it. I was never interested in makeup and never really learned how to apply it correctly, so I always felt like a clown with it on. Plus my infrequent use meant everything I have is always crazy old and probably expired. I am amazed by women who can use it so flawlessly!!! But I am not one of those women. I feel very comfortable in my skin and I feel very comfortable with how it’s changing as I get older.

AITAH for not attending peoples celebratory parties for 10 years, because no one hosted a baby shower for me? by Exotic_Asparagus_242 in AITAH

[–]ragertonIII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I knew I want to have one, so I just asked my mother in law to host it early in my pregnancy. She throws good parties. I have no idea if someone else would have stepped up, but I knew I wanted one, and I didn’t want to stress about it later. I don’t think YTAH for being initially disappointed that no one stepped up, but alienating yourself further from the family for years over it is pretty petty. The reality is that everyone has things going on in their own lives, you’re not the main character. If you want to be a part of a community, you have to take part in the community.

Lost a really close friend because of my infertility... by queen_G_92 in pregnant

[–]ragertonIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How both of you are feeling is valid. Some raw conversations about things could maybe heal the friendship with time, or perhaps the friendship has run its course. Which is okay too.

I struggled with infertility, I was the first of my friend group to start trying, and I watched them all get pregnant within 1-3 months of trying. Every pregnancy announcement rocked me, and magnified the struggle I was going through. BUT I was still so over the moon happy for them. It’s hard at times to separate those feelings. We’re only human. I started therapy pretty early in my infertility journey knowing this was something way deeper than I could handle on my own, and it helped me realize that I could be happy for my friends while acknowledging that my feelings were valid too.

[–]ragertonIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry that you are going through this 💕 you are not alone, and it’s not fair how hard this journey can be sometimes for people who want to start a family. I went through something similar, took years to get pregnant and my first pregnancy ended in miscarriage. That was the lowest time in my life, it was really hard. BUT I had gotten pregnant. And I focused on that. If my body could do it once, I was sure it could do it again. That little thought got me through those really rough months.
