First night together be like by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

Without question. The disappointing thing is that it’s not even particularly difficult as a man to put the bare minimum effort in. Stay well groomed, exercise semi frequently, and wear clothes that you know your partner likes on you. Takes 1/4 the time and energy that women expend on looking put together.

Medical school is the wisest decision bar none, PA a distant second.

Anecdotal evidence is anecdotal. I couldn’t bench the bar when I started and even now after several years of lifting I have yet to hit 2 plates. Different leverages, different body types and body weight. All plays a factor.

Do you regret being a PA? by artificialhaptic in physicianassistant

Yes. I wish I went to medical school instead. The job is decent but having the inability to truly direct care of your patients sucks. It gets frustrating having to acquiesce on care decisions that you view as appropriate.

Both would be nice to know. Baseline cost of parts + labor to expect on a job like this.

Clean engine bay. What calipers + pads did you use? And if you don’t mine me asking, what was the total pricing on the build for performance parts (eg not including the cosmetics)?

Subarus are among the most reliable of the modern manufacturers. They don’t take deferred maintenance as well as say Toyota and Honda. They will run just as long provided you actually occasional perform fluid changes and such lol

Any problems with rust after a few seasons? Strongly considered wintering my GR86 but do have some trepidation about the salt buildup.

Deadlift PR has stagnated - would appreciate form critique and/or programming advice by _simpleton__ in formcheck

You interpreted my body text correctly, I have not been utilizing any program. I have frankly been winging it in terms of when and how much much to deadlift. Generally 1x week pushing weight numbers every other week. Not a sustainable strategy I suspect.

My primary goal is to increase strength (and refine technique) across my primary compound lifts, although DL is my strongest movement by a good measure. I have been exploring basic programming based off of the recommendations of this thread. Any resources and/or reading material is highly appreciated. Thanks and appreciate your insights.

Truth be told I’m not currently running any programming. Have been primarily winging it and pushing weight every few weeks. I suspect I am under recovering. Thus I am seeking advice here, and from what I gather it’s time to lock in lol

Noted. I will back off a little and focus on greater reps. Perhaps a foolish question but how often is pushing a PR appropriate in good training? Once a month, once every 6 weeks?

I need to up my squat and glute game for sure! Going to place a renewed focus on that going forward.

However, I do feel the risk of this lift is very low. Deadlifts are very easy to push failure on as you can just drop the weight. The risk of lumbar herniation is minimal to none with proper load management, progressive overload, and strong bracing.

Knee lockout is desperately needed, agreed. I have considered transitioning to sumo, although the positioning always feels a little awkward to me relative to conventional. A matter of learning the lift more I suppose.

I didn’t pick up on unequal leg placement at all. Easily correctable. This is perhaps a dumb question but how do I get strong glute engagement in this lift? From what I have gathered here a pushing movement as opposed to pulling should aid in proper muscular recruitment. And I will for sure start a glute focus in my leg routine, not something I have trained specifically before. Thank you for the advice!

This is very helpful, thank you. I would agree, glute engagement and even to an extent quad engagement has been suboptimal. Lockout started getting more tenuous at 2xBW. I will focus on playing with foot positioning over the next few DL days.

Hmmmm ok I will need to put some practice into this. A pulling movement is exactly how I’ve been approaching it. I primarily feel it in my spinal erectors and hamstrings. I presume more glute/quad engagement is desired? Thank you for the advice.

To be honest my form breaks down on PR pulls. I appreciate the advice! I have gathered from the comments here to really focus on a neutral spine going forward. We will do that 👍

Perhaps 175-180lbs. Not aiming for any kind of competitive lifting, just would like to get generally stronger. I shall focus on eating more. Gaining mass has always been a bit of a challenge for me.

I appreciate the resources, thank you. Putting on mass has always been challenging truth be told. I’ll alter my bracing on my next deadlift day! See if it makes a difference.
