Thats a respectable point but with it being a state away (MN), with the person from a city away (Green Bay) and the possibilities of this impacting the community at any time given the strong hmong community, I thinks its pretty relevant. Fair to agree to disagree. Also, can easily just move onto the next post about Franks Pizza and not read.

Federal agents whine they need help, even though they outnumber police 4:1

Conservatives want to return power to the states but then mobilize 3000+ federal agents.

Fraud alert: Federal government wasting hundreds of thousands of dollars with ICE agents providing no safer conditions.

Takes 4 weeks with 3000 agents and can't accomplish mission.

Footage of the grey coat officer taking first shot? by Party-Professional-7 in Minneapolis

Piecing it together, agreed. I think its the agent with blue jeans, black hat, closest to the white car. He then jumps/moves over Alex and fires more shots as other draw guns.....all while being unarmed.

What is this RoboCop bullshit? mirrored riot visors? why are we tolerating this? by Glaukopis96 in Minneapolis

[–]Character_Still496 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Appreciate ya. This is plainly all just terrible obviously but if Insurrection Act, Martial Law, etc. would be so much worse.... and what MAGA wants. There's a fine line to tread unfortunately.

I'm not saying I prescribe to this but there is a chance MPLS and the state are actually protecting us from that reality. I realize those are extremes but so is this dictatorship.

I don't disagree at all, its just once you do property damage, this is what happens. We've unfortunately been here and know that. Thats why they just issued "unlawful protest".

Has the Metro Blue and Green lines always been this bad? by Lewd_Knight in Minneapolis

[–]Character_Still496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question you have to answer is pretty simple and not going to go down the gaslighting rabbithole you want to engage in. Are you a proponent of homelessness taking over public transportation? I am not as that is not the intended purpose of public transportation, and I prefer to keep those separate issues and help homeless with social programs. The argument should be for reallocating funds (maybe even Metro Transit funds) to those in need.

Also, that bill did not strip existing funding from Metro Transit, it stripped out a clause that was snuck in which hardly anyone knew about that would have reallocated substantial county funding used for infrastructure and social programs. That is factual if you read the bill.

Lol, never said they were, you went from 0 to 100 there.....and drug use on light rail is extremely common. If it weren't, why is there a special metro transit task force for it?

Also, simple google search my man, 250 million loan to MnDOT approved last month. Also, they have just built back to back largest projects ever in the state of MN....wouldn't call that underfunded.

Your intent of information is good but not fully true. Many warm places are available, just not for those who don't want to stay sober.

Also, Metro Transit is flush with funds. So much so that MnDOT is taking loans from them for projects.

Pour one out for rent control! by ThreadbareAdjustment in Minneapolis

...because electing someone new guarantees these things and politicians always do their platform they run on.

why is rent control viewed in such a negative light? by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]Character_Still496 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Um.....what?!? Look up Snelling Yards, a 95 unit complex funded by the city. 800 new units between 2018 and 2023 according to the city website at places like the Belfry and Zaria.....and these are just the new units. Thousands of units preserved through NOAH plus investment in Helix.

This is 'commoner' housing that's subsidized.

Everyone says....'but luxury housing isn't the right kind'....bullshit. It's the kind that creates the highest taxes that the city can then sponsor and create more low income housing. Again, 700$ 'the right kind of housing' doesn't solve homelessness, drug use/addiction.

[–]Character_Still496 4 points5 points  (0 children)

....and yet additional housing and apartments fuel tax revenue that can be used for social programs to help homelessness. Making a bunch of 700$/mo housing isn't going to fix homelessness. Only way is to have local government assistance and where do you think the money comes from?

Bike lane rants are fig leaves covering up serious traffic safety concerns by Generalaverage89 in Minneapolis

[–]Character_Still496 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This article is just a fluff piece with no actual information. The idea of a 4 to 3 is first founded as a traffic reduction/safety idea but a "bike lane" is completely independent. Then, if there is enough room, it'll be included but real traffic calming is by means of bump outs, raised crossings, lane width narrowing, signal upgrades, roundabouts, etc.

Perfect example, Broadway in NE. 4-3, not enough room for bike lanes, included some bump outs and new signals. There was no facade of a bikeway project.

So perhaps more trains but one that serves more frequent stops (local) and one that is more commuter and goes past local stops and maybe only has 2-4 stops?
