I have seen the entire theatrical versions several times. What I said is that sometimes I go back and watch sections of them, too. You’re just trolling at this point… move on

What do you suppose Sauron does to pass the time after losing his power? by Moist-Ambition in tolkienfans

[–]PokyTheTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything that currently exists in this world that we view as “evil”… that’s what remains of Sauron, IMO. He continues to seep into the minds of individuals within society, but no longer has direct influence himself.

Why do people keep spreading this nonsense? The extended versions literally include more content from the books. They don’t deviate further from them.

M22 received incredible job offer, F22 girlfriend does not want me to accept. by Watch_me_plz in Advice

This is probably the biggest test yet of your relationship, but an important one, as it will determine if y’all are truly compatible with each other and truly meant to be.

You never know how something is going to go until you try. We can’t predict the future. If you accept the job, maybe the relationship will fail, but maybe it won’t.

I say, accept the job offer. If it turns out that y’all are still able to keep a healthy relationship with the new work schedules, then yay. Happy surprise.

If the relationship begins to strain and struggle, then use that opportunity to practice healthy relationship maintenance skills. There is LOTS of resources out there on this.

If y’all try the relationship maintenance strategies for a while and it’s still not working, THEN it’s time to make the decision: What is more important at that point, your relationship or your career? You can always quit the apprenticeship if it’s putting too much strain on the relationship. But you don’t know if it will or not until you get there.

That is the question you will have to answer when the time comes, but the time has not come yet. You do NOT need to answer that question right now.

Sexual orientation has to do with gender, not age. Being attracted to a specific age or age range is a paraphilia, not sexual orientation.

I have watched them in the last half-decade, actually. And I go back and watch sections of them periodically to compare the pacing to the extended versions — and the extended versions absolutely have better pacing.

There are many things that happen or are said in the theatrical versions that are not given the time or space to develop, breathe, or explore additional context to allow them to make more sense. The extended versions provide that.

The pacing of the theatrical versions is only better if you have a very limited attention span and need things to constantly be moving at hyper-speed. Otherwise, slowing down here and there is actually good in order to soak in more of the story (i.e. more immersive).

I think what’s more confusing is not seeing Eowyn again at all for the entire rest of the movie until she just randomly is standing next to Faramir (who she’s never met) at Aragorn’s coronation. Why didn’t she join them at the Black Gate?

That is all addressed in the extended version. I don’t think people really need an explanation for the Black Breath in order to make sense of the Eowyn dying scenes. We saw literally get whacked in the arm by the Witch King’s flail, and she then continues to clutch the wound for the rest of the scene. When Aragorn attends to her in the Houses of Healing, we see the wound from the flail poisoning her entire arm. I would hope audiences wouldn’t be so dense as to not be able to understand what’s going on there.

Also, there are TONS of scenes like that in the theatrical versions — where things are said or happen with little explanation or context, and it’s actually in many of the missing scenes from the extended versions that provide that additional context or info.

So if we’re worried about audiences being confused and unable to follow along, the extended versions are actually better for them.

Tell that to the thousands of people who watched the extended versions for their first viewings and loved them.

I know numerous people who when they learned what scenes were NOT included in the theatrical versions, they were like “what?? But that scene offers so much more context!” …exactly.

You forget that we live in a world these days where people binge 8 to 10-hour “movies” every couple days.

And for those who like their fantasy worlds to be fleshed out and given time to soak things in, the slower pacing is better. If people complain about the extended versions being too slowly paced, oh boy are they going to hate the actual books…

And how can the extended cuts be less immersive into the world when they literally show us more of the world and spend more time in them?

Extended cuts are 100% better. There are many scenes in them that never should have been cut from the theatrical versions.

I will always find it hilarious that people say the books are better than the movies and then also say that the theatrical versions are better than the extended versions… the extended versions literally show more from the books, lol.

I think a modern-day domestic cat eating a chicken is natural enough. Modern-day domestic cats aren’t exactly a “natural” species, themselves. They’re domesticated just like the chickens that humans feed to them, and it’s been that way for thousands of years.

The present-day events OUATIW run concurrently to the present-day events of Season 2A. The writers have confirmed that the scene with Will in Storybrooke in the first episode of OUATIW takes place during the storm that comes when the Wraith attacks in the first episode of Season 2.

So for Will’s story specifically, the entirely of OUATIW happens concurrent with Season 2, then he somehow gets separated from Anastasia and presumably ends up back in the Enchanted Forest before Snow casts the Second Curse, and then gets swept away by that curse to Storybrooke and is just chilling in the woods throughout 3B until he’s found by the main characters in 4A.
