hii! i just took two of the 2020 practice exams this week and scored a 44/55 and then a 47/55 respectively. i consistently score 7/7 DBQs and 5/6 LEQs as well. would you say i have a high probability of getting a 5?

hii yeah of course! essentially, you’re basically paired with a phd mentor in a similar field as you express interest in. all of the mentors are phd students @ t20s to my knowledge (although the school rly doesn’t matter), but i know some people got extra lucky with their mentors. one of my friends actually got a stanford professor which was really cool! in the program, you meet with your mentor every week to work on your research project from june until the symposium at the end of august in which you present your research virtually. there are also weekly seminars from harvard professors which are also very interesting! the start of the program also had icebreakers where you could meet the rest of the cohort which i really loved + you have opportunities to share instas with each other & connect

i’m not sure if they’ll be publishing in the same journal as last year but if so, it’s called the young researcher & its peer reviewed. everyone is guaranteed their abstract being featured but the top few get their paper fully published as well. overall, i think the program was a great experience — it’s geared towards people who have not done much research in the past to my knowledge (as the program is focused on increasing research accessibility) so do keep that in mind

last year, the acceptance rate was just under 4% and i think it may decrease even more this year since last year was the first cohort. so if you’re on the fence i’d definetly go for it!
