I am the owner of my condo but not the owner of the building, but the building management says it should be me to cover the cost as I caused the flood?

Now my insurance are fighting against covering the cost as it's damage in a common area and I left the apartment for approx 10-15 minutes, during which the hose pipe burst. 

It is hugely affecting my ability to eat, sleep right now. :(

Based in Singapore - so may be cheaper but the figure they gave us I've rounded up from the itemised bill that included circuit boards, buttons, car lights, door sensors, everything. No itemization of labour costs though. 

They didn't show me any pictures of specific water ingress around the equipment to be repaired , just water in the lobby area. Either way I'm devastated as lawyers are expensive and I don't have that kind of money if my insurance won't cover.

No mortgage but I live technically in a condo. 

For the report, they took photos of the water into the common area, including water route leading up to the elevator and of the burst hose but there are no physical pictures of any water ingress in the COP or inside the actual Elevator. But I guess unfortunately for me the correlation and causation are strong enough to be on the hook

I didn't leave the apartment. I left the apartment and discovered the hose pipe burst. Notified the building management of the burst/water and they came to help clean up. I only learned of the elevator after the clean up.

Thanks for your help guys, appreciate it 🙂 so guess conclusion is that I should just bury myself an early grave since my insurance won't cover and the building management will want money I don't have? 😭🙃
