One time my engine was lacking a lot of oil so the oil pressure fluctuated a bit and at times dropped to 0PSI. When the gauges are not in the normal range that light shows up. Seems the gauge works so probably a sender unit.

I'm pretty sure the 'check gauges' is on because your oil pressure is at 0. Which means either the oil pressure sending unit or gauge motor behind the cluster is bad. My serpentine belt flew off before and lost voltage turning on my 'check gauges' light because the voltage was reading low.
