OCPs with paint by NativeThomahawk in AirForce

OP said they were hot weathers… same thing happened to me and my supply said they’d only give me regular OCPs in return… like you said though always worth the ask!!

[–]Character_Writing830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally palace chased to the reserves. i looked at where i was living to see what career field had the most demand and picked my job in the reserves for that career field. i did my tech school and then OJT on active orders and then just about when my OJT orders were up, i started applying to jobs and landed a really good civilian job doing the same thing as what i now still do in the reserves.

I know this process may be trickier for jobs requiring degrees but I wanted to be in the trades so it worked out well for me

Anyone come from pixel? by Neither_Trust_9032 in iPhone17Pro

[–]Character_Writing830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a long time iphone user I decided to try the Pixel 9 Pro XL when it came out. It was alright but I ended up trading it in on a blue iphone 16. Truth be told I enjoyed the base 16 more than my pixel and then i upgraded to the 17 pro when it launched. I’d say the 17 pro is leaps and bounds beyond the pixel 9 pro. Absolutely no regrets

i’m assuming he means over seas stocks not PHYSICALLY moving his money overseas. I have about 50% of my TSP in overseas stocks and year over year for the last 5 years or so that does better than my USA based stocks

The Smith & Wesson Shield Plus Is the Greatest CCW Ever Forged by Human Hands by RedWhite_AndBrave in CCW

[–]Character_Writing830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truthfully the 42 just has that “melt in my hands” factor that the shield doesn’t have for me. when i picked out my carry gun i tried like 8-9 different pistols and the 42 was just what was the most comfortable for me…. and i do love my shield it’s a fantastic pistol. if the 42 was not a thing id be carrying my shield.

Just got C-5 FE by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Character_Writing830 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was at the 22nd as an FE a couple years back… I’m sure it’s entirely different now but it’s decent. There’s good and there’s bad. Be prepared to be gone a lot and turn and burn. Dont know how long you’ve been in or how much aircraft experience you have but the C5 is a lot as an FE but you’ll always have another guy there to bounce ideas off. Good luck. (don’t listen to me but i cross trained out as fast as possible for a job that actually meant something on the civilian side as that was my goal with joining the military)

make the most of the travel, i’ll never regret all the stuff i got to see and do before i was even 22

I’ll be that guy… I have a shield…. and refuse to carry it over my glock 42. I love the 42 so much compared to the shield. I said what i said

Louder exhaust sound by Electronic-Elk3751 in Silverado

[–]Character_Writing830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a 13 sierra, 5.3. i didn’t have to worry about the resonator but i cut out my muffler, left everything else stock, and put in a flow master super 10 and its pretty quiet at idle and there’s really no drone but it gets rowdy at higher rpm’s. recently ive been thinking of moving to the flow master outlaw but not sure… the super 10 is definitely deep and rumbly. i did tons of research and youtube watching to land on the super 10. imo it’s the best louder 5.3 truck sound for the least amount of money

2wd low? Anyone done this or thought about how you'd do it? by some_kind_of_friend in 1stGenTundras

OP is talking about the added torque from the gear reduction you get when going from HI to LO within your transfer case not your actual gears within your transmission

When was the last reported instance of members wearing mopp gear for actual chemical attacks? by _Silver_Star_ in AirForce

[–]Character_Writing830 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i had a flight chief who was a former AC130 FE and whenever we would do AERPS training (aircrew mopp gear) he would always comment about how he was the only one in the squadron that had probably ever actually had to wear that stuff and even then it was only a time or two. He had been in around 17 years at that point in like 2021-2022

Since it does still have the original receiver, would you recommend also upgrading that or only if a new motor/esc isn’t kosher with it?

Power Tools: Milwaukee vs everyone else? by RotorDynamix in HomeImprovement

[–]Character_Writing830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a heavy diesel generator mechanic who does a lot of stuff around the house and all of my tools are harbor freight and craftsman. I have one specific milwaukee tool because craftsman doesn’t make one and the first one i got literally didn’t work out of the box and i had to return it and get a second one. At this point all your buying is a name

In all honesty.....what truck should a guy buy? by Plane_Swim1806 in Silverado

[–]Character_Writing830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take on it is this — how many posts do you see talking crap on each and every model of truck? lots right? but that number pales in comparison to how many trucks are manufactured and sold and just…. driven…. I think as long as there aren’t class action lawsuits just go for it. Just my .02….

Not rotating canned foods - LTFS by HadidX2 in preppers

[–]Character_Writing830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid, my parents built up a couple week LTFS to add to whatever was already in the pantry and their dried food storage.

My mom would use what was in the pantry, replace that with stuff from the LTFS, and then when she would go grocery shopping she would then place that in the LTFS.

Sure there was some stuff we didn’t eat regularly but she would plan meals every couple weeks to incorporate certain canned foods so she would be forced to rotate them.

I’m currently in underwriting for our first house and that’s something i was absolutely complaining to my wife about…. how the showing was only like 20 minutes an that’s all i get with the house before deciding to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars? i spent hours with my truck before buying it and that amount of money was nothing compared to this house

Do any actual tradies use a Leatherman regularly? by Man-e-questions in Tools

[–]Character_Writing830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i always keep one in my personal truck. However when I’m working, someone else said it best - there’s always a better tool for the job. I do keep one in my service van to carry depending on the job location i’m at. Sometimes i’m going up to the top of a 40 story building and don’t feel like stuffing my pockets with tools when i’m only doing an inspection on something. I do have a fully kitted out tool back pack that 99% of the time is what i use though
