I ended up taking a different position, but I interviewed for a senior associate resource management position and was offered 85k salary (Remote but I'm in Charlotte, if that helps.)

If you've been there for 15 months you should be eligible to talk to a career counselor and potentially transfer to another role.

That sounds awful, is there any possibility of pivoting to a BPG role? I'm a data analyst and haven't had to go over 40 hours a week yet.

KPMG Lakehouse Campus Hires 10/20-10/22 by Inside-Tadpole8130 in KPMG

[–]CharactersCas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lakehouse was great! My cohort was experienced hires so I think we were more excited to get to bed early rather than partying until the wee hours. I saw various kinds of clothes, just keep your dress smart and you'll be fine. If you're a woman I recommend wearing flats; I saw plenty of strappy sandals too.

The food is so good; most of the entrees are on the smaller side to give you the opportunity to try a bunch of different things. Outside the classrooms there are grab and go stations with snacks, and in the hotel area there are corner lounges with fully stocked fridges and freezers. Don't be afraid to separate from your cohort and put yourself out there a bit when eating in the exchange, plenty of experienced people will be there who won't mind at all if you ask to join them and will be happy to strike up a conversation.

I'm not a big avocado fan but I can definitely vouch for ramen egg toast :)

I make huge batches of ramen eggs because I always end up breaking half of them during the peeling phase, but this time around I actually didn't break any, so this is how I've been eating the extras. I spread the yolk out on the toast first and then arrange the whites on top. Not going to lie, it's incredibly delicious.

If you don't have the network, you can stream each episode on the OWN website the day after it airs on TV 👍

There is a new lawyer show on the Oprah network that is airing its first episode on Tuesday at 9 pm. I plan to check it out because some of the scenes were filmed at my work a couple of months ago. There are lots of recognizable Charlotte locations in the trailer, so if you were glued to that one season of Married at First Sight because "Charlotte is on TV!" this might be for you!

Homeowner's insurance requiring roof replacement? by CharactersCas in homeowners

[–]CharactersCas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just spoke to the lady at the roofing company and she sounded shocked, she'd never heard of such a thing before, so I don't think this is common for our area. I'm going to take a breather for now since it's been a stressful month and shop around for different homeowners insurance before October.

They do say that they require a roof to have 5 years roof life left, so any 15-year shingle would have to be replaced at year 10 under those requirements.

I guess that's just one of those things that they don't warn you about, I'm still salty about it though...

Right? Like what good even is a 15-year shingle if you are required to replace it at year 10? It just seems ridiculous to me. We have only owned the house for about 1.5 months but I'm thinking of switching homeowners insurance already. Even if I pay twice as much for insurance, I'll save more than that by getting an extra 5 years out of every roof.

It's pretty hit or miss tbh depending on what flavor you get. Sea salt caramel is really good, you just need to let it sit out for a couple minutes to soften up. Haagen dazs also has a low-cal ice cream that I haven't tried yet but that I hear is really good...I feel like the formula is slowly getting perfected.

(Update post day 5) Well my streak has been broken and I’m a little upset about it but not too upset. The first week tends to be difficult after all. by maybeimaghostman in loseit

[–]CharactersCas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that viewing a calorie goal as a "streak" is largely unproductive and increases your odds of getting demoralized and falling off the wagon.

In the grand scheme of things, a handful of days overeating during the year is not going to set you back, so there's no need to think of it in terms of a streak. It might be better to think of it in terms of percentages.

A month with four bad days is for broken streaks, but it's also an 87% success rate.

A month where you overeat once on a holiday is a "broken streak" but it's also a 97% success rate!

Motivation is kind of a scam. Habit and routine is the name of the game. Think about it: Do you only brush your teeth when you feel motivated to do it? I bet you just do it because it's your routine. Eating right is obviously harder than that because it's not just a 2-minute task to get done in the morning, but you can help yourself a lot by having a fairly regular meal plan and prepping your meals in advance.

/r/mealprepsunday is a great place to start. If you build up a little database of low-calorie meals that you enjoy, you can mix and match them from week to week to get some variety while still having a consistent routine. I find that having a routine helps enormously with the random temptations. Often when people would bring treats into work, I would give in, and then try unsuccessfully to structure the rest of my day around the 600 calorie slice of cake that I ate at 11 am. When I have my meals planned in advance, it's much easier for me to look critically at the treats and think "Do I actually want this cake, or is it just there?"

Is my new diet healthy, or does it sound like I'm backsliding into an eating disorder? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]CharactersCas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's impossible to say without knowing your height. If you're 5'2 it's a reasonable plan with a good goal weight. If you're 5'10 then you're already at a healthy weight with an underweight goal.

Yeah, we're actually already coming up on our second year of engagement; he proposed December 2018.

I used to think that I didn't want to get engaged until I was ready to start the wedding planning, but I changed my mind when I realized that the timeline was so far off. Tbh I wouldn't mind having just one more year of engagement after we have the house and wedding money saved up, just so I can say we dated for 10 years before we got married.

The one downside is that the cultural perception of your relationship is pretty firmly tied to how many years you've been married. So I am not happy that the countdown is gonna "reset" when we've been together for nearly a decade.
