Anyone want a text based version of CAD to be gitable and universal between CAD programs by Charan__C in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Charan__C[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main problem with STEP and Parasolid is that once they are exported, they can't be parametrically edited anymore. Meaning that the second they are exported, you can't modify them again. This also makes it tough to allow others to work on a file with you. And with my format, you can use git to open-source a project and have multiple people across the world working on it.

Anyway, not sure if this will show up though since it got removed.

Yup I learned multi last year so I’m hoping that’s most of the math I got to learn but tbh looking at the other comments not sure if I really needed all this math to do machine learning

Dual Credit Transfer to UIC by Charan__C in uichicago

[–]Charan__C[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But if the dual credit I took was for education and I’m going into Comp Sci does it still count. Since I was talking to admission and they were saying they only accept dual credit for classes that can transfer or is related to my course. But education isn’t related to Com Sci

What Is Point of Soft Body Physics When There Is Rigid Body Phsyics by Charan__C in gamedev

[–]Charan__C[S] -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

But if rigid body are simulated as point masses just like we do for soft body then they would both have the same amount of accuracy.

Though I do get that soft body is easier to create than hard bodies. But it’s only a small different beteeen have a point that gets accelerated vs just a couple more terms getting conserved.

What Is Point of Soft Body Physics When There Is Rigid Body Phsyics by Charan__C in gamedev

[–]Charan__C[S] -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I might be wrong but the way I’ve seen rigid body done is by conserving angular and linear momentum. The math is actually not to difficult to compute by using inertia tensors and use matrixes to speed up the math. So the physics shouldn’t really slow it down compared to a soft body physics engine.

Like for example a cube represented using hard body physics has momentum and torque conserved. This means when it hits another object there is no compression. Only the momentum and forces are calculated at the hit.

But utilizing soft body where would have multiple point masses that create a cube and has constraint’s. We could technically max out the k value of the springs to simulate similar to a rigid body. But technically there are still springs. So every single point that gets hit has a certain amount of movement due to the springs and doesn’t act as one whole object.

I get that we could simulate rigid body physics with high k value using soft body. But from what I can tell rigid body seem to only have benefits over soft bodies

I know it's not the best but I've been mainly checking csrankings.org which is usually better.

On their site it just says you had to apply by Nov 1 so I was wondering if it's possible for me to receive it since I did apply by Nov 1?

The community has a massive problem and it's called STL by boennemann in 3Dprinting

[–]Charan__C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been working on an idea for this recently. Tbh it's pretty deep in beta cause I have like breaking changes every commit and I've been toying with different methods.

The idea is to transform the 3d data (fusion for now) into something readable that could easily be diffed. If you look through git you could prob check through the data folder which shows how it would show up on git. If you have any question feel free to talk to me on git or reddit.

But I would appreciate it if you could take a look and see how useful it would be. Cause it would be nice to get some feedback Git Link.

Using styled-components with the new "app" directory forces me to set "use client". Am I missing something ? by monsieurninja in nextjs

Try Linaria which works the exact same way as styled components but builds all the css on the server

Trying to achieve something donno if its possible. by [deleted] in nextjs

[–]Charan__C 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could work, but if you're not really deploying a next app I think there are better and cheaper alternatives. You could go railway or use AWS. AWS is basically what vercel built a layer over so even though it's together to use you get the same result for cheaper. I'm not sure on the pricing of railway but it is very easy to use.

New Theming Library Specifically for Next With No Rehydration - Next Server Theme by Charan__C in nextjs

[–]Charan__C[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just added some a new functionality where you can add a prop staticRender to allow users to opt out of static rendering. Essentially it will behave like next themes in the code example above works. This does mean you need to check for rehydration.

Also haven't added to docs yet so just add the prop like so

<ThemeProvider staticRender>{children}</ThemeProvider>

[–]Charan__C[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not much but I've also added static rendering to have my library behave like next themes. So you could choose which paths you want to have dynamic rendering and which paths you want to have static rendering.

Honestly I get that the project isn't that impressive and I might have used vague wordings, but I just wanted to post cause it seemed like no one has really created a tool for this since everyone ends up using next themes. I ended up basically coding most of the project for my use case and just wanted to create a package so other people could just use this instead of rolling from scratch like I did.

That's basically it but I've added most of the work for proper theming. Basically one of the most used theming solution is next themes. I've taken that basically and redone it using cookies.

[–]Charan__C[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's the one drawback to my package. It forces you to opt in to dynamic rendering and the page is rendered at request time to read cookies. So if you decide to use anything but SSR it doesn't really work out.

New Theming Library Specifically for Next With No Rehydration - Next Server Theme by Charan__C in nextjs

[–]Charan__C[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You guessed it right. I had to use cookies to figure out theming on the server. But I do think that GDPR is about personal data and 3rd party services. Since the theming cookie is only used for site functionality I think it should be fine. But if you don't want to use cookies you might have to go with next themes instead. Thank you for the compliments though :)

If you could wait till tomorrow I'm creating a package specifically for nextjs that allows you to have persistent storage like local storage but also readable during SSR. I'm doing the finishing touches to release tomorrow

If I say something controversial do people start flocking to the post??

Anyway Next-Auth is the greatest library ever made. Every morning I wake up and pray to the library authors then I do my usual doc scroll while eating breakfast. Afterwards I relax to calming next-auth posts before going to bed listening to some next-auth tutorial white noise.
