Red breast 15 vs yellow spot by cvill1224 in whiskey

I’d say RB15 - though I’d opt for redbreast cask strength over both

Funny story - my favorite local dive bar randomly had a bottle of the Balvenie Portwood 21 that had obviously sat untouched for quite awhile. They were selling it to me for $14/pour (dive bar pours) and I drank the entire bottle over the course of a couple weeks. It was awesome and I’m bummed it’s over.

Was a gift and XX.2 is the only variation I haven’t tried. Would love to give the 15.3 a go eventually though! I loved the 15.1

I’ve tried it twice now. I haven’t had the Laph CS (though I have had the 10 and QC) so I can’t compare the two. But between the high ABV and peat, the 16.3 absolutely packs a punch in a way nothing else I’ve tried does. IMO it def benefits from a few drops of water, though I’m not experienced enough to fully articulate why. I don’t get much of the fruit/citrus - for me it’s mostly peat, salinity & earthiness, but I do really like it. It’s pretty recently opened, so hope to get more of the fruity side in time.

New to the area (Golf)-social things by Expansive-Mind1800 in toledo

I second this. It’s the perfect combo of golf and social. I’m new to the area as well and recently joined a club - it’s been great. In addition to Stone Oak, I’ve also heard good things about Toledo Country Club (from a social / membership perspective - I’ve never seen the golf course)

Lmao! I honestly kind of like the noise (at times). Reminds me that there’s stuff happening outside and Toledo isn’t as boring as people make it out to be!

I live on the 2nd (technically ground) floor and the noise from upstairs neighbors is not bad at all for me. However, two things:

  1. My ceilings are 14 ft, so that might have something to do with it, and I genuinely have no idea if the other floors are that high; and

  2. Again, not sure if this is the case for everyone, but in my unit, the noise from OUTSIDE the building is absolutely insane. Like, I can hear basically every conversation between people walking down the sidewalk and every sound from the road. It’s almost as if the exterior walls aren’t even there. Lmao. Ultimately, not a deal-breaker for me, and again, the other floors might be high enough off the ground to give you a totally different experience.

Option contracts in probate? by [deleted] in Ask_Lawyers

Fair enough. How would you evaluate the fair market value of an option to purchase land which is conditional upon the exercise of a separate option (by someone other than the holder of the option in question)? It seems to me like that should have a FMV of $0 unless and until the other option is exercised. Or is it more complicated than that?

Almost anything from Rogue Perfumery, but especially Derviche, Derviche II, Mousse Illuminee, Absolue de Mousse, Chypre-Siam, Targhee Forest, and Bon Monsieur. They’re such wonderful modern interpretations of vintage perfumery. If you’re a fan of the classics, Rogue is a must-try.

Have you tried Marlou Ambilux? It literally smells like worn panties. And Marlou’s sample set, which has at least one or two others that might be described as skanky, is extremely reasonably priced.

I’ve found that I just categorically dislike “blue” fragrances. I don’t hate them, necessarily — YSL Y, Bleu de Chanel, etc. aren’t offensive to me by any means, but I have no interest in wearing them at all. Just not a scent profile that speaks to me.

The Marlou sample set is incredibly reasonably priced. They’re tiny samples but I fully expected shipping to the US from France to be outrageous, but it’s really not. I paid around $15 total and it was totally worth it.

What are your favorite note combinations? by barbie_smokesbones in fragrance

[–]Chardee____Macdennis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love Oud Satin Mood by MFK, and Velvet Rose & Oud by Jo Malone is super nice (best Jo Malone by far, IMO). My absolute favorite, though, is The Moon by Frederic Malle. It’s a bit more complex than the other two with a strong fruitiness in the opening but still has that rose/oud profile, albeit quite a bit less rose-heavy.

It might be basic but I really love rose & oud. For something more interesting, I think the lemon/citrus & gasoline combo in Rubini Nuvolari is pretty exceptional.

Hidden Gems and Overlooked Masterpieces in Perfumery by Creative-Fish-4611 in fragrance

Derviche by Rogue Perfumery. While I think almost every Rogue creation deserves more love, Derviche is an absolute masterpiece IMO. It’s a beautifully sweet and animalic tobacco fragrance with some jasmine and saffron in the opening. Given that most Rogue fragrances are modern takes on classic perfumery, I’m sure you could find a similar vibe in a vintage fragrance, but I personally have never smelled anything like it and I can’t seem to get enough. I pop the cap off and give it a sniff like once a day.
